Vanitri - You find two armorers with a set of mitheral chain, but they are loath to part with the shirt alone at a reasonable price - after all, who's going to come along and buy a pair of mithral chain pants? Finally you find one with a chain shirt alone. It is both guady and artistic - some of the rings were covered in a film of gold prior to the creation of the chain, and were integrated in a patern that gives the impression of shifting dragon scales. It is on display on a moving maniquin and its hard not to be entranced by its look when in motion. The shopkeeper makes a great deal of noise about the added value of the gold and the artisty, but cannot deny that it was a special order uncollected and unpaid for and thus represents a loss to him as long as it reamains unsold. You suspect you would get it for standard price with a bit of bargining.
Your questions about the beast match reveal that there are three basic types - giant vermin, usually poisoness, Undead creatures, often large skeletons, and magical beast, which are usualy controled by magical means. Gladiators fighting magical beasts or vermin are equiped ahead of time with magic rings who turn any damage they do non leathal. Sadly, the beasts are not comperably equiped.
Micheal - you speak to two herbalists who sell in bulk. When you mention bloodfire to the first, she looks concerned. "I can get that for you, lad, but if you don't mind me saying, I'm not sure you should be using too much of it. For a housewife's headache or a farmer's sore back its the best pain releiver that will not leave them hankering for more even when not in pain if you catch my drift, but if your pain comes from a sword cut or a set of broken ribs, it has its dangers. It can ease the pain while slowing the healing, and thats not so good in the long run. If you don't mind me saying, tied to the Arena as you seem to be," She nods politely in the direction of your collar, "I'm not sure there would be many cases where you would want to use it as these others. For sore muscles from practice, I would suggest a numbing salve to apply directly, perhaps with savan-mint, which warms the muscles to relax them...." she continues on a bit, quite educationaly, about alternate pain relieving techniques when you wish to risk neither opiates nor blood thinners.
The second also seems skeptical of your need, but just says "Don't have that much bloodfire in stock right now. My usual shipment isn't due till month end, and I had a run on it. You could try Risa, down the other block, but she'll talk your ear off."
Ironwolf - your psicrystal finds Click (or maybe Clack) talking to his brother back in the barracks. As it gets into 'ear' shot, one of them is saying "...match tommorrow. New kids get cocky, make mistakes, get hurt. We should try to stay close to any of them who might need support. Petra always says we have to help the others in our stable." His brother nods and goes out to the common area, returning later with ale and cheese. Click is engaged in some sort of work on his bunk painting on something, but its out of the psi-crystal's veiw.
Rosalynn - While in the shopping district, you see the monk you met last night coming out of a small building with a sign of a lit candle out front, and the words "all welcome". Seeing you, she alters course slightly to say hello. "I heard your first match went well today." she says smiling. "I had a good bout myself with a giant spider. If you are going to be applying first aid in the ring though, you should invest in some nice big scarves. Good for a million uses."
