I hear ya. And even the so-so books often have some specific use that justifies the money I spent.

Especially when they go one sale on line, at the local stor, or at conventions. There are a lot of books that become worth while at 50% off.

Yeah, those started to really get me in trouble towards the end of the year when it seemed like every D20 company out there was having a clearance sale. The biggest downside was that I've yet to read most of those books. Kind of like when the CD club would send that initial shipment of 20 CDs at once, and I'd listen to maybe six of them.

I cut way back on my purchases this last year, but I know that I still spent something like $150. Exact amount is a little difficult to determine right now as I bought most of the stuff off eBay at pretty steep discounts...

Unless WotC comes out with some serious software that'll make it easy to extract the value in my several dozen WotC D&D books, I doubt I'll be buying anything in 2005.

I almost feel guilty that I'm not supporting the hobby enough. The sum total of my gaming purchases in 2K4 were a copy of Unearthed Arcana (bought using a store gift certificate, which brought the cost to me under $20) and a Monster Manual for my nephew. I did recieve a copy of d20 Future for Christmas.

What's freaky is I actually spent more time at a table gaming last year than the year before, when I bought more than twice as much!

I have a very bad habit of getting side tracked in my purchases. If something I have even a bit of interest in comes along at the right price I will pick it up over stuff I really want that hasn't yet hit the price point I want.

Case in point I just picked up Freeport City of Adventures & Red Star from the sellers forum here even though there a few things much higher on my "must buy" list currently. lol

Hmm.... definately over $250... this past year is not comepletely fair comparison though... I spent last year trying to fill out my ODD/ADD collection and went all out on buying sprees on ebay. I think I spent somewhere around $6000 on gaming materials last year.... normally, I think it would be between 200 and 250 per year on average...

I'm terrified at how much I spent in 2004... but I must have spent far less than other people here. I mainly confirmed myself to Wizards (non-FR) products...

Cheers!

Frankly I don't know if I spent more than 250$, but no less than 200$ for sure. It's the year I spent the most money on rpg stuff.
