Well, let me pick your brains a bit more...
I decided on ranger with spells, despite my character's low Wisdom, and the loot that we got from our most recent adventure included a necklace giving +2 to Wisdom and a +1 natural armour bonus. The party cleric did really want it, but she was nice enough to let my character have it. So I can start to cast spells now, and am thinking of supplementing my spellcasting by commissioning a small magic item or two. (I think that an item created by a druid casting a 1st level druid/ranger spell once per day would cost 400gp?)
What I'm now contemplating is whether it would be worth aiming for the Human Paragon prestige class in UA. Giving up a point of BAB and 6 skill points over 3 levels and delaying some ranger abilities (meaning a weaker animal companion, unfortunately), I'd get a good bonus to my Will save, a new class skill (quite possibly Tumble), a feat (always good) and a +2 bonus to an attribute - which I could put into Wisdom.
Do you think this would be worth doing? I don't know what the pre-reqs for the prestige class are.
