My Friend (D&D Player) on NPR Tomorrow (Friday)

Crusty Old Meatwad
I just received this email from a friend of mine (who used to play the Half-Orc Barbarian in our D&D game). Her husband Matt (also a long time friend, and a fellow D&D player in our current game playing a Dwarven Cleric with a technology focus in our Ptolus game) wrote the new book "The Body Has A Mind Of Its Own", along with his mother (a lifelong science writer).

Matt will be interviewed on NPR tomorrow. I encourage everyone to give it a listen. The book topic is fascinating. I've heard them interviewed once before, and they are pretty good.

Friends,

We just found out that Matt is going to be on National Public Radio tomorrow afternoon, discussing his new book, The Body Has A Mind Of Its Own. (I can honestly say, despite my obvious bias, that it's pretty brilliant.) The 30-minute segment is called Science Friday, which I believe is part of the program All Things Considered. Here is a description:

Science Friday, as heard on NPR, is a weekly discussion of the latest news in science, technology, health, and the environment hosted by Ira Flatow. Ira interviews scientists, authors, and policymakers, and listeners can call in and ask questions as well.

If you don't catch it live, you can download the podcast.

Matt's interview will air at 3 p.m. EDT, [which is noon for Pacific time] Here is a link to the show:

Just for clarification, in case it throws anyone, Science Friday is the Friday version of Talk of the Nation (not All Things Considered), and the show is 2 hours long, not 30 minutes. The segment in question at the beginning of the second hour, and could well be the first 30 minutes of that second hour (though 20-minute segments are more common). Also, in some markets they'll play the second hour first, live, and the first hour second, from tape. Just saying all this so no one misses it.

Sounds like a fascinating topic! I'll be listening to Science Friday like (almost) always. Congrats to your friend!

Interesting book (I ordered it after seeing your link here) and interesting discussion. You could tell that Matt isn't used to answering questions like his mom is. He seemed like he was in a "we don't exactly say that, and I don't want to go out on a limb" mode, while mom was in more of a "here's a decent answer" mode. Practice, I'm sure, will make perfect.

Will your friend be in a French maid costume? Does everyone you know eventually wind up in the media in a French maid costume? Would that really be bad thing? Am I still typing as I think? Why can't I seem to stop? Do I have no filter whatsoever? Oh, God. Please help me stop.
