My Minature Creations!!!! Yay Me!!

thanks.. I have not been working on them much lately.. (works been busy.. I have been tired).. But with Christmas hols coming up.. woo hoo.

easiest way to begin in my mind.. is to buy a packet of the Basic Armatures from Reaper Mini's.. then some Green Stuff from.. well.. where-ever. (Games Workshop definately has it).. and the tool I use.. all one of it.. is basically a pencil-like piece of wood.. with a pin in the end. and a flat wooden end at the other end.... and then just play. And you will find.. the first one will be um.. dubious... the second one will be better.. and so on.

Drakmar,

The pose on that crane monk is totally dynamic! Excellent work.

As you probably know, a good armature is half the work, I can't wait to see the finished model!

Let us know when there is more, please.

Thanks for the advice Tewligan and Drakmar, at least now I know where to start :) Maybe I'll have somthing to show here in a couple of months...

Very cool mini. i wish i was good at sculpting, only minis i have made are melted wax and wire slimes and puddings, a pipe cleaner and hot glue shoggoth and a pipe cleaner and hot glue Cthonian.

thanks. anything you create yourself is a good thing.

the real trick I think, is to get a really dynamic pose.. it really adds life to the mini. and it makes the minature easier to visualise.. because of the pose of the white crane monk.. I have this awesome visual image in my head.

hey Kip.. if you do a drawing of your favourite character.. in a dynamic pose, I can see if I can sculpt it. I need some more projects.

preferably a human sized being.. and.. preferably male. this is mainly because that is a limitation of the armatures..

actually.. if anybody has a particular drawing.. that captures my imagination, I could possibly do a custom mini.

Hey Drak, dunno if you know this or not, but Reaper makes female armatures too. Heh, you've just doubled your potential subjects!

I'm finding that a good source for inspiration when I'm stumped for mini subjects is my gaming shelves. Several of my d20 books now have little bits of paper sticking out of the top, marking various drawings I want to try to translate into putty. The one I'm working on now is the topknotted fighter/wizard-lookin' guy near the front of AEG's Mercenaries book - he should be done and photo-worthy in a week or so.

just going to bump this back in to the recent posts.. I should have a new dude finished in the next couple of days.

A Human Norse-like warrior in chain/plate combo with a great big maul.

Well.. my White Crane Monk is coming along nicely..

I have finished both his hands and arms almost.. I have done both his legs..and a fair bit of his torso.. now to just clean it up a little..and do his head.

out of the 4 I have been working on.. I think I might be able to cast him.. my Half-Orc Monk, and my Norse Warrior are in poses that make casting hard if not impossible. But the Necromance and the WC Monk are both in poses that are more.. 2 part mold friendly.
