D&D 5E My MMII Wishlist

Just for kicks, I put together a thorough listing of what I hoped would form a speculative MMII. What do you think? What would your list look like? What would you add/remove? It's likely more than they could fit, but hope springs eternal. ;)

Edit: New additions in RED. All together, the entries would form a book around 240 pages in length if formatted the same and illustrated the same as the current MM, inclusive of Contents pages. A reasonably large volume, if smaller than the current MM (though it would likely retail for the same due to smaller print runs necessitated by it not being the main core monster volume).

I agree with, oh, 95% of your list. Well done. :)

I don't ever want to see gem dragons back, though. I'd much rather the catastrophic and plague dragons from 4E.

MortalPlague

Adventurer
Cat, Winged

Eh?

Good list, I'd like to see most of these too. I don't recall seeing a winged cat before, though.

In a new Monster Manual, I'd definitely like to see some new content as well. Updated stat blocks are all well and good, but innovation is a good thing too. Keeps the old players who've seen everything on their toes.

I'll happily take 95% agreement any day of the week for a list like this. ;) I tried to really hit the main missing entries, any holes I saw, and also present the quintessential "second tier" critters.

I'd actually like to see the WotC team come up with some completely new monsters in addition to probably 88% of Jargogle's list.

my personal pick would be the Balhannoth. I got killed by one in 4e and it's been one of my favorite monsters since.

They're often called Tressym, and date back to 2e, IIRC.

I'd rather see all the old favourites presented first; a lot of new entries are either redundant (because D&D has presented so many damn critters over the years there's a reasonable chance something has already been done) or not necessarily that good. I'd prefer all-new beasties appear together in an all-new volume (a single book devoted entirely to the new). Certainly, I'd want MMII to only present existing entries, if only because so many good/cool ones were left out of MMI's essential collection.

Thanks for the kind words. Care to describe the Balhannoth, please (I didn't do 4e, so I've no idea what it is)?

it's like a large, tentacled, cave-dwelling aberration that can teleport around.
