The "name 5 things that you've done that others probably have not thread" got her interested in it, since they were over at my house when I responded to it (I think I even added her list while I was there). She assumed, I think, that the place was meant as a general message board for just anyone, not knowing that it's primary intent was as a d20 forum.

Ugh! I wish I hadn't posted something so embarasing in that thread now! I hope she still lets you game with me, Curtis. :o

My mother has no problems with my gaming hobby but I doubt she'd ever read ENWorld. I did give her a copy of the book that I wrote for Rolemaster and she was very excited that I was a published author. I did the same with my dad and he looked at the cover with a jaundiced eye and then flipped through the book whereupon he raised his eyebrows, impressed. "Did you WRITE all these words in here?!" he asked. "Yes, dad. That's what we AUTHORS do." Then he rolled his eyes and called me a smartass, which is most certainly true and largely a trait I inherited from him.

The only other "mom reading ENWorld" encounter that I've ever had was when my close friend and fellow board member, The Lone Corndog, died. I showed the thread I started about him to his mother and she was very moved by the outpouring of sympathy and support over the passing of her son. She commented at how kind and wonderful the community here was and I can't help but agree.
