Mystic Theurge

Uncanny Trickster, Complete Scoundrel. Unfortunately, a Mystic Theurge's dual spellcasting progression isn't a class feature of its own in this sense, because it references the base classes' spellcasting, which it only progresses. So Uncanny Trickster levels can be taken to progress an actual class feature (the Wizard's OR the Cleric's spellcasting), but not the Mystic Theurge's mere progression of that class feature.

Do you know of a Wizard's quote regarding this issue?

No need for a quote. Progressing another class's class feature, like MT does, does not constitute a class feature. There are a few PrCs which grant their own spellcasting (Assassin, for example, or Blackguard). These have their own spellcasting as a class feature. Mystic Theurge is different from these: it doesn't grant spellcasting itself, so there's nothing for Uncanny Trickster to progress. Mystic Theurge only references other classes which grant (arcane and divine) spellcasting, and progresses those class features.

The result is that Uncanny Trickster taken after MT could only progress actual class features granted by the class you want to progress with UT. MT doesn't have those (only progressing extraneous class featuers itself). So your UT levels could only be used to progress class features of another class you have, i.e. EITHER the arcane OR the divine caster you used to enter MT.

Furthermore, if you take MT to level 10, then take UT, you couldn't progress even any actual class features MT grants, because the class is already finished, and it doesn't have any abilities that read "...per class level" or some such (like Hellfire Warlock does, which is commonly progressed with UT).

Besides, MT has an epic progression.

You're full of :):):):):) homes.

IT'S LISTED... IN THE TEXT... UNDER CLASS FEATURES. If being listed IN THE TEXT as a CLASS FEATURE... DOESN'T MAKE IT A CLASS FEATURE... what the :):):):) would?

Quit with the profanity and rudeness, please; no need to overreact. See the moderator note below. - PCat

It's a class feature. End of story.

Hell no he won't. The only thing that makes the mystic theurge balanced is the fact that you don't get 9th level spells in both classes.

YMMV, IMHO, and all that.
The MT has other balancing factors, like MAD stats and lower CL.

I think the MT has only 10 levels just because at the time it was written, PrCs had 10 levels. I don't think it's because the writers intended the 8th spell level to be some magic number. After all, an asymmetrical MT can get 9th level spells at 20th.

IMO, and so on.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. :)
