D&D 5E Mythic Odysseys of Theros

Is it typical for them to respond this quickly? I wasn't expecting anything for a few days at the earliest and after a few more attempts (tweets) more likely. But I honestly don't know as I am not on twitter and I don't follow how WotC responds to tweets.

@teitan , where did you tweet your question? Does it go to sage advice or another location?

I tweeted to DnD itself and Crawford.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the setting is lacking a couple of low-level threats, the equivalent of goblins and orcs.

I guess you could use lots and lots of skeletons, as an homage to "Jason and the Argonauts", and you could probably reskin orcs to turn them into smaller cyclops, and call the kobolds "cynocephaly". You could also come up with a rival nation from across the ocean, a Troy / Persia /Atlantis equivalent, and add spies, scouts and soldiers as opponents.

I was wondering if any of you had any idea on other monsters that could fit the world of Theros.

Centaurs, minotaurs, and harpies can be pretty wild and aggressive from the card game.

Theros has some brutal minotaurs in the world, the PC versions are just the less violent ones, though I think they suggest using the standard minotaur stats from the monster manual which are a bit stronger than orcs. Returned probably make a good low level threat as well, particularly those who serve the murder king.

Harpies is a good suggestion. Centaurs and minotaurs can be used, but since they are PC races, in my opinion it's harder to use them in the mook role.

Make minotuars and centaurs mooks from different cultures that are in conflict with the PCs?

Like @cbwjm said some Theros minotaurs can be pretty nasty. And skeletons and zombies are a big part of the Theros setting as escapees from the underworld (Returned) who may prey on people so that can also easily fit.

There are good Centaurs/Minotaurs and there are bad Centaurs/Minotaurs. Just cuz they are PC races doesn't mean that fact changes anything.
Sure, but I'm trying to find new basic monsters for Theros, and people keep suggesting the equivalent of "Just use evil dwarves and elves", which is not a bad idea, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

Fair enough. Harpies are probably the way to go then given they have a few monsters at different CR's (1/8, 1, 5). Satyrs might work too but that doesn't seem to get at what you're after. Refluffing kobolds or goblins as kobaloi could work.
