D&D 5E Mythic Odysseys of Theros

I have read the rules. I have read and reread every single time you have posted. I do NOT see what you see. No where does it say “this trait works even if something else would block it”

I ran into a cantrip that did. Others have realized things that kill without reducing to 0hp may too...

mans thisnisnt some corner case Chill Touch is the second most common (most if we take out non combat ones) cantrip I have seen in games...
" If you wish to increase a battle’s stakes, though, using a monster’s mythic trait results in some mid-battle twist that changes the way the monster behaves, restores its resources,.."

It states right in the rules that using the trait results in a mid-battle twist that changes the way the monster works. That is a direction to the DM, it overrules any spell, period. The whole mythic trait is a DM fiat. Nothing can "block" the DM - that is the whole point of 5e.

Because it is weird. I do t understand. I get I can house rule it to make it work better (already have) in fact I think when I get home I may post my Dragon Knight Hero who is mythic my PCs have fought twice to a stand still... he is awesome...

I just think we can all comment on the issues and maybe improve the rules by admiring “hey this didn’t work out well as written”
I to have already modified it in me 5e Mythic Updates posted here a while ago. Here is Mythic Tiamat. You can see I added "all conditions she is suffering end for her" to solve this issues.

Undoubtedly some think this is not enough, I mean is Chill Touch, or Power Word Kill, or Disintegrate a condition? I guess what I like about 5e and what I like about Mythic Traits (even if I feel it could be more clear) is that it leaves it open for the DM. To me it is clear what the intent is, but if you want to rule chill touch takes out a mythic monster you can. It gives us the flexibility to make the game what we want.

I actually like YOUr mythic Tiamat and have it saved to use if we ever play in person again (with my bones malendrakar) so I respect that you did do better. I just don’t think we should HAVE to make a dm call on all things like this

I've heard others say the same thing. It doesn't bother me. My favorite thing is to make monsters. I would be bored and sad if the designers did everything for me ;)

FYI, I haven't done a final balance pass. I was in the process of revising her attack damage when I got sidetrack and I haven't checked her CR. Just wanted to give you full disclosure.
That’s okay my PCs always hit above there weight class anyway... I once threw 2 pit fiends at a 11th level party (6 players 1 cohort like add on) and they killed one bloodied the other before retreating with only 1 dead PC

I wonder if they didn’t see it or if they don’t know how to answer
Is it typical for them to respond this quickly? I wasn't expecting anything for a few days at the earliest and after a few more attempts (tweets) more likely. But I honestly don't know as I am not on twitter and I don't follow how WotC responds to tweets.

@teitan , where did you tweet your question? Does it go to sage advice or another location?

Sometimes they just don’t respond... they only respond to some %. And even then it could be days or weeks later. So you never know

I assume it is a mix of when they see it, if the answer is easy, and is it something they feel will be asked again.
