Names - What are the best you've used or heard?

Just wondering about some of the best names you have either created, used or have simply heard in your games. A top 5 or top 10 would be great.

To start the ball rolling:

Characters
- Eddin Thunderkiss: Heroic Dwarven Master of the Hammer and Martyr of his cause.
- Garanorn: Kindly, old and bushy white bearded wizard.
- Vandennon Alorr: Paladin and Grand Master of Tyr.
- Fiell Tanesin: THE Grand Master Swordsman of the Elves.
- Allabard Argus: Former Paladin of the Fallen God Absalom

Places
- Drammen: Northern Outpost and Frontier garrison
- Taramar: One of the seven Groves of the Elves
- Arahd Bahkesh: Desert metropolis and "Barter Town" on a grander scale.
- Nethendawe: The City of Souls.
- Elarnia: One of the major continents in my new campaign world.

Best Regards
Herremann the Wise

PS: And on a side note, what do you think makes a name truly great? Is it the name or is it the character?

People

  • Aelgar Ironface: Legionaiire wizard with a black iron mask (Ironface is the name given him by the orcs the Legion fought. (from my Kogusar's Black Legion campaign)
  • Zemostan: Saracen wizard in the holy land (from Piers Brown's First Crusade Ars Magica campaign
  • Gregor Martin Krieg: My ex-CIA hit man in an online game of Spycraft
  • Zhandhalar: My first 3E character. Currently human Fighter5/Barbarian2 (From Theovis's Against the Night Kings campaign --predated Midnight by 2 years!)
  • Mercurio: House Quaesitor Wizard in Piers Brown's Falconhand Ars Magica Campaign. Secretly demon possessed.

Places

  • Cros Mogmun; City of a Dozen Virtues and a Thousand Sins. Degenerate capitol city of a waning empire. Rotting from within. (from my Kogusar's Black Legion campaign)
  • Zarfadn: Planet of a warrior race of desert-dwelling bipedal canines of the same name. Maintained a duelling traditon and had a somewhat questionable (though somewhat deserved) galactic stereotype (from my Space Hawks GURPS campaign)
  • Dellin's Forge: Dwarven community built into the tunnels of an active volcano. Dwarven rituals kept it from fully erupting. (from a map for a campaign that never got off the ground)
  • The Gravewood: A giant, untamed forest seperating a kingdom in peril (Aeryn) from their most likely allies (The River Barons).
  • The Vasgothian Hegemony: Large emire in decline. Descending from Noble Conquerors to coin-pinching, trade-obsessed lackies of a variety of merchant guilds.

slightly off-topic, but i've been meaning to ask, does anyone know where to find a good dwarven name generation, or at least a list of dwarven names?

I like mine : Djeta Thernadier ,half elf, Bard 2/Sorcerer 5

and one of MojoGMs is Cyrus Nephroon, human, wizard.

Coolest name of a real person I want to work into a game one day is Woodlyne. I was at Dunkin Donuts or somewhere a few months ago and the girl who was at the register was named Woodlyne and I thought it would be a really pretty name for a female elf...a bard perhaps. She (the girl) wasn't quite as entertained...
