NC Game Day (Dates posted for NCGDVI-VII on top of page 16)

What do you all want?

I'm curios.
What do people want from their gamedays? Do you want to be a player, or gm at least once? Do you want to spend the time discussing the hobbie? Do you want to play with the nifty miniatures? What is the one aspect that people enjoy most about these things, and the NC Raleigh GD in particular?

Personally I like to have the oportunity to try out things that I could not do in my normal group.

Idea: What about a Raleigh or NC area forum?

I was thinking. Would it be worth it to pay the 40 bucks a year to start a forum off of EN world for NC and surrounding area-specific gaming issues?

On the one hand It would help get everything in one place, people could chat easilly ect.

On the other hand it costs money, and it would take us out of the general area so perhaps some new people would not notice us right away.

What do you all think?

Our good buddy, Belen Umeria, has already set us up a Yahoo group at:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/ncgameday/

I think it is designed to fill the niche that you describe. I'll also point out that the NC Game Day site has a set of forums that we can use for that purpose at any time, not just surrounding Game Days.

The yahoo group acts as our e-mail message list and the game day site is a good set of forums. Not sure if an ENWorld forum would be the best place, although I would love to hear more from people on a more regular basis.

Also, All Fun and Games (used to be the Games Galore on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary) has forums for gamers seeking gamers in the area:

The ladies who own and run the store are really great and I recommend the place to everyone here. Heck, Vivian was a member of my gaming group back in the 90s. If you see her, ask about her old character, Tatiana. :)

Two things: 1) to try out new games as you describe, and to meet with ENworlders that I regularly correspond with, to see what they're like in person.

And I must say that you are a cruel DM: I'll never look at lawn grass the same way again. Everytime I look in my back yard after a couple of weeks, and it's grown up, I get the sudden urge to kill. :D

*chuckle* I remember playtesting that game - it was much the fun. We got the rednecks working on our side for the final fight by saving one of their buddies from the ...crabgrass... at their meeting spot. And I can tell you this - my voodoo priest from Nawlins sure wasn't expectin' to ever be on the *same side* in a fight with *those* sorts of fellows.

I love the chance to meet fellow EnWorlders and people in the area who game. It's a great place to network and share gaming stories. I also enjoy trying new games and new GMs, which I do not get to try that often.

I'll chime in although I'm definitely the odd duck when it comes to gaming. I don't have a local gaming group*, so I'm rabid for the opportunity to just sit down and roll some dice at Game Day. The other aspects are fun as well - discussing the hobby, cool minis, etc. - but I truly relish the opportunity to stretch my out-of-shape role-playing muscles.

*I've been running a PBEM game for about six years, but it's just not the same as sitting around a table and playing in real time. We've gotten together once so far to play face-to-face (which is a real challenge since everyone's scattered over multiple states) and covered in one evening what in the PBEM would have been over a month of weekly turns.

Jon....I will have an opening in my group this October. ;)

Gouge, Mugnutz, or the hound master...decisions decisions...

I guess I'll have preference for the hound master, unless he's already taken in which I'll take Mugnutz the previously blue.
