NC Game Day XII: January 20th - BE THERE!

Fun! Fun! Fun!

Well, as usual, I had lots of fun at Game Day.

Pielorinho's Spycraft game was a blast! Literally speaking in a couple of spots. :D

And despite the sense of hopelessness pervasive in Alenda's game, I also enjoyed the challenge quite a bit. I must admit I was looking forward to the "betrayal" part of the session, but I forgot about it in all of the excitement of trying to survive.

Thansk to GMs and players for filling my day with laughter and fun!

Thank you, thank you! I've found that I do well on GameDays when my character has access to some form of explosive. :D In my other game I got to try Shadows of Yesterday, and that was quite fun. Lots different from what I'm used to playing; no explosives, unless you consider the volatile personalites of the characters! ;)

Great work by the GMs; I was impressed with how several folks stepped in to make certain posted games would run. A great group of gamers here!

My players in the Spycraft game were awesome! For other people, though, I'd like to offer some advice:

In an over-the-top spy game, it can be a good idea to leap from your airplane onto the fighter biplane that's chasing you down (and currently below your plane, due to your pilot's crackerjack flying).

It can also be a good idea to lasso the pilot out of the fighter biplane.

Just make sure you coordinate: don't lasso the pilot out of the biplane just as your buddy leaps down, barely grabbing hold of the biplane's landing gear just in time to watch the plane's pilot yanked out of the open cockpit and zoom away, dangling from your lasso.

We had a great time, with all kinds of ridiculous stunts and bon mots. Rel would make an exceptional movie villain, in case anyone's wondering.

Oh! And Rel's pirates game was similarly fantastic; I had a great time. The only real downside to the game was that five hours of hollering like a deaf alcoholic dwarf ruined my voice; I was totally hoarse all day today.

I had thought this was self-evident by now. ;)

I had a great time as usual. Despite the aforementioned um..."ill timed aerial boarding action", I had an absolute blast in the Spycraft game. It was my first experience with that particular system and it definately left me looking forward to my next chance to play it. How often do you get to yell, "Called shot to the hat!"?

My only regret from that game is that I was so wrapped up in the fun of playing my own character that I failed to note down some of the many, many Quotable Quotes from it. Though "Entice them!" stands out (but that's just because I usually pay attention to things that I say). And, as usual, my mind was racing to stay ahead of the PC's in the game I ran to the point that I failed to note down any quotes from that game too!

I must say though that the group I had for Warhammer Pirates this time was excellent. In particular I liked Spider (I think he still goes by Spider over here...) and his sardonic portrayal of the Elf Wizardess. I don't think there was a Minor Chaos Manifestation that he didn't get to see either. I guess one of the joys of one-shot games is that you're not stuck with the hangover next session if your character goes insane or grows a tentacle. ;)

It was a delight getting to chat with everybody at the Before, During and After meals as well. And, as I mentioned at the dinner afterwards, in just a few weeks I'll be posting the thread regarding NC Game Day XII in April. That one is gonna be HUGE!.

A whale of a good time

Rel's pirate game was a great sequel to September's game.

Overheard at the table (as best as I can remember):

"YARRR!" X20
"Can I go in?!?" "No, not yet!" "...but there's treasure... <whimper!>"
"You sink the stone deep behind the leviathan's eye."
"The skeleton's head explodes!"
"All your food, water and ale is spoiled...."
"...the dwarf is still running..."
"Are the bartender's books behind the bar??"
"He's not a captain!! He's still a mate!" "Yarrrrr.....(pitifully)"
"The leviathan bites you AND the skeleton!"
"You drop the incendiary and now the cannon deck is on fire...."
"I'll try to intimidate the creepy old guy."

And if I'm not mistaken, I think April's event will actually be GameDay XIII!

And you may, just possibly, have a couple of guests from up north...

I am very sincerely hoping this will be the case. Remember that if you can get here that there is a place for you to stay.*

Any photos from this last one?

I know that many were taken. Hopefully we can get them up on the Game Day site soon. Anybody with pics, please e-mail them to Morgenes over at the NC Game Day site.

*Spooning with Henry optional.
