NE vs. N (FFA): Very Young Tarterian Dragon vs. Adult Ethereal Dragon

OOC: Does escaping the grapple break out of the burrow into flesh?

Val repeats, doing the bite first (so that it is not affected by the subsequent grapple). Maybe I'm under a false assumption here, though. You do allow them to occur in any order, right, as long as highest BAB is first?

OOC: I don't see anything where the flesh burrowing attaches the creature, so I assume that escaping from the grapple stops the burrowing.

OOC2: I understand the idea behind your question, but I'm a little confused as to how you worded it. You do need to specify the bite first, otherwise an improved grab will cause the bite to attack at -4.

OOC: Val wants to bite first and do the claw attacks second. The attack bonuses remain the same. I know some people don't allow it despite that it's not disallowed. The only stipulation on order of attacks is highest BAB to lowest and that doesn't matter for natural weapons.

OOC: I'm allowing Val to attack that way, but I want to make sure we agree as to what is going on. Val attacks with his claws at +8 and his bite at +4 (+3 and add +1 for weapon focus). So the bite is a secondary weapon, correct? If you want to attack with the secondary weapon first, you should be able to.

OOC: Yes, that's right. Attack with the bite first at +4, and then with a claw at +8 and (if no grab) another claw at +8 or (if grab) another claw at +4. If he attacks with the claws first, he'll likely hit and grab and then he'll never likely hit with a bite. I haven't checked the xorn's AC, so maybe it doesn't matter (he might need a nat. 20 regardless). Chances are that this is just an exercise as an interesting option for those reading these combats. :)

Val claws once for no damage. (Rolled natural 20, 16 crit roll) He doesn't grab either (rolled 21 vs. 26 Grp check).

Round 451: Rocky claws once for no damage and bites for 23-10=13. Val has 26 left.

Val misses with the bite (rolled 23), but claws and grabs. The second claw misses a crit due to the grapple. Rocky takes no damage from the claws and 2 from the burrowing. Rocky tastes his own flesh but maintains his sanity. He has 19 hp left.

Round 452: Rocky can't escape the hold.

Which grapple option does Val want to take while he's burrowing into Rocky's flesh?

He'll take the opposed grapple checks action as they seems to be far easier than trying to penetrate Rocky's tough exterior. Val will also taunt Rocky, "Taste your flesh, I have!"

Val claws for 7-5=2 and burrows for another 6. Rocky loses another point of Wisdom and has 11 hp and 9 Wis.

Round 453: Rocky escapes on his second try and steps to 10N10E.

Val claws for 6-5=1 and doesn't establish a hold. Rocky has 10 hp.

Round 454: Rocky has had enough and withdraws into the ground.

A draw is declared at the end of round 458.

OOC: I'll take over the next NE creature, as it is from the Planar Handbook.

Acting first in round 459 for Neutral is an earth element rhinoceros. (Manual of the Planes)
