Necklace of Fireballs - what's "simultaneous" detonation?

A creature with fire immunity never takes fire damage, but no where is that immunity extended to the creatures items. Now for creatures with a magical way to explain thier immunity, i could see having it also affect thier gear, but on the most part, fire immune creatures often need metalic clothing.

Items Surviving after a Saving Throw
Unless the descriptive text for the spell specifies otherwise, all items carried or worn by a creature are assumed to survive a magical attack. If a creature rolls a natural 1 on its saving throw against the effect, however, an exposed item is harmed (if the attack can harm objects). Refer to Table: Items Affected by Magical Attacks. Determine which four objects carried or worn by the creature are most likely to be affected and roll randomly among them. The randomly determined item must make a saving throw against the attack form and take whatever damage the attack deal.

Definitely #1. Seperate saves.

Same as if 5 wizards all cast fireball on you at the same time via held actions or the like. They all go off at once, but they're still seperate explosions.

Funny thing is... I've never used or seen a necklace of fireballs used in any manner except all at once. Toss the darn thing at the bad guy and have your pal fireball it. Then watch the explosions....

Which does not work. The multi detonate only happens when worn.

Wrap them around a summoned creature, halfling, or other expendable critter, then throw that at the enemy.

Does that mean you can Disarm a Necklace of Fireballs ( i.e. snatch ) to prevent detonation? For example: Rogue has initiative and notices the held party Halfling is wearing a Necklace of Fireballs and is the target of a Fire Spell... so the Rogue makes a disarm attempt to snatch the necklace before the Halfling is incenerated to keep the necklace from exploding and taking out the entire party... does that work?

Hehe... the Rogue Disarmed a Necklace of Fireballs... I'm easily amused.

initiative does not work that way in 3e. The rogue might be able to ready one standard, move or free action after combat begins to accomplish what you speak of, but that has to be done long before most spells are cast.
