Need a little help finding a rule

No Name

First Post
Some time ago, I remember reading that a lower + weapon couldn't sunder a higher + weapon (ie. +2 can't sunder a +3 or higher). Then I find a post on this board which says that rule has been errata'd out. It's all about hardness and hit points now, the old rule no longer applies.

So I search through the errata and can't find the info. Thinking that I might be looking through the wrong errata, I read through the core books to find the old rule. I can't even find that now.

I'm beginning to wonder if I actually read that stuff to begin with. Maybe I'm losing it...

The DMG errata now states that each +1 of a weapon (or shield) adds 2 to hardness and 10 to hit points.

So, it would be difficult to sunder a more powerful weapon or shield, but it is possible, especially with multiple Sunder attempts.

That rule was used in 3.0. Wasn't that good so they changed it in 3.5.
It snuck into 3.5 due to a copy and paste error witht the DMG, but was eventuall corrected. Much to the chagrin of players with +1 flaming burst, icy burst, shocking burst keen rapiers... :]

Thanks!

You guys are pure genius.

The top of page 222 in the 3.5 DMG, in the Hardness and Hit Points section, is where it's at. That also explains why I couldn't find it a second time. I actually bought (yeah, I'm a sucker, but it looks cool) the leather bound DMG. The leather bound version has completely different info.

All it took was a minute looking through the old DMG. It all makes sense now. :)
