Need an interesting barbarian idea

I always thought it might be interesting to play a gnome barbarian. They get +2 Con which improves their ability to be a hp monster and if you go weapon finesse it eliminates some of the STR penalty. Just the image of the annoying little bastard flipping out and smashing things seems hilarious to me. If I was going to do it I'd go Barbarian/Sorceror just for a truly wierd combination.

Halfling Barbarian from the Talenta Plains.

Complete with dinosaur mount.

You know you want it. ;)

Quoted for truth!

This is one I've been itching to try, and today's Dragonshard makes me want to play one even more! Your halfling barbarian could mix in a few levels of either druid or spirit shaman, if the latter is preferred and/or allowed.

You were an apprentice Mask Weaver, one of the few survivors of an attack that wiped out your tribe. You try to follow the teachings of your elder so that you can one day take your rightful place as a shaman of your people, tending their wounds and rebuilding the strength of your tribe. Your anger at the loss (and betrayal) you have suffered simmers just below the surface at all times, finding sweet release when you don your spirit mask, mount your dinosaur, and exact bloddy vengance from your foes! Carrying that though further, you almost be a split personality, your smiling face striving to serve as an example of the best qualities of your people, wheeling and dealing and negotiating as if you were a paragon of House Ghallanda (or the Boromar clan), subtly gathering information that will lead you closer to the murderers of your people (Karrnathi soldiers? a rival Talenta tribe? Valenar?), while your fearsome spirit mask transforms you into an inevitable, malevolent force of retribution!

Start out as a standard, run of the mill barbarian from a "wild" culture. As the levels go by have your character "find" a new god that inspires him to turn from his tribal customs and embrace the promise of this new religion. Become a fanatical devotee to this new religion and show your devotion by taking Vow of Poverty. You have a raging, rampaging barbarian who keeps no earthly possessions... couple this with some of the exalted feats that give some bonuses to will saves of various sorts might give you a character that is rather fun to play.

Go with one of the barbarian cultures presented in the Eberron book. Many of them are very different from your cliche barabrian.

The dragon-worshipping barbarians get access to some interesting feats. Maybe the reason he came to Khorvaire has something to do with the prophecy?

Or maybe he's from the Demon Wastes but decided he didn't like being ordered around by a cruel, unseen master. Does he fight his demonic origins or embrace them?

Or play an half-orc barbarian, but one descended from gatekeepers, who hunts the creatures of Khyber. His rage is useful in a fight, but does it bring him closer to the madness he despises?

1. Hill dwelling tribe of indo-european origin is wiped out by cultists of a dark god. As a child, you are taken as a slave.
2. You are taken to the north and chained to a great wheel, which you push around for no reason until you are incredibly buff.
3. You, knowing nothing of fighting, are thrown into the pit when you get too big for the wheel of pain and fight endless battles in which sheer animal strength and cunning keep you alive. (He did not care anymore. Life and death... The same!)
4. Winning, you are taken to be trained. Philosophy.. women.. are made known to you.
5. Your master, thinking you like a wild beast kept too long, finally releases you...

Wait, didn't I see this somewhere before?

Actually there are some good Barbarians guarding the demon waste whose 'rage' is actually them tapping into the same semi-divine Coatl essense that powers the Silver Flame. A Barbarian/prophet from one of those tribe with a mission to bring some prophecy to the Keeper of the Silver Flame in Thrace could be a great character.

Halfling Barb on Dino. C'mon.

Orc or Half-orc member of the House of Finding. If half orc get the Mark, If full orc take Favored in House. "That's 'Out, of my way you filthy orc, Sir d'Tancrith.'"

Goblin from Scarn who scampers about as a cheerful and subservient henchman most of the time (think Girgi from The Black Cauldron) but he has an imaginary pet rat. Woe to the person who steps on his imaginary pet rat...

Shifter Barb from the eldeen reaches. C'mon. Beasthide to start with and pick up longtooth later. The rage + shift feat = bloody goodness and were touched master will make you a monster.

Changling Barbarian. Noone will see that comming. Always look like a changeling, but never quite the same one... And take Warshaper.

A kalashtar who has been banished from his people because his fragment of a quori has somehow been driven mad and they worry that it will spread. It worries you too, but it feels so good to unleash that madness in combat. Maybe frenzied berserker will start looking better and better as the madness grows.

As has already been mentioned - halfling barbarian from Talenta, with the big ol' tribal mask, dino mount, boomerang, the whole bit.

Other possibility - warforged barbarian. Made during the earlier stages of the forges operation, and was at one point damaged heavily on some fundamental level. Even after he was eventually recovered and repaired, he's still not right in the head. Previous class levels are gone. Memory all screwed up. Can't remember how to read any more, but knew he used to at some point. Inappropriate emotional responses now and then. Ability to fly into a screaming blood frenzy when pressed because his aggression response just flips the #^&! out; unlike a normal warforged who would remain cool and collected under pressure. Sort of a Rambo meets Regarding Henry sort of deal. :D

Clerics are not restricted to alignment in Eberron, but do paladins still have to be lawful? Or one of the paladin variants from UA. A raging smiting force for *insert gods name here*. :]
