Need Art for Tattoo

Bass Puppet

First Post
Greetings,

I'm about to go under the ink this weekend and I am looking for some Images of Dragons. My friend for 30 years is a tattoo artist and has a couple of examples he wants me to look at on Monday when he comes over but I wanted to have my own arsenal of dragon images that we can go over as well. I've done some web surfing and gone to a couple of bookstores and still I'm at a loss. I’m having it done on the bottom half of the inside of my right leg. This is just the beginning for my right leg because I plan to have several tattoo’s (over the next year or so) extending up to and possibly beyond my knee (inside and outside). The darker, the better.

Thanks for you time and effort.

i reccomend waiting until you fall in love with an image rather than choosing to commit the act then looking for an image.

that being said, here are 353,000 dragon images.

if you are looking for dark, search for escher and dragon, he did some wicked work.

M.C. Escher is amazing.

Well, it's not that I'm rushing into this at all. I've wanted a Dragon Tat for a long time and my friend and I don't get together very often and when we do, he usually keeps his kit at home. And, if I don't find anything (between his collection and mine) then we'll have to post-pone this. The problem that I'm having is that I haven't been able to find the right kind of Dragon pic. I've done a google image search, visited several artist's websites, and even skimmed through several books.

define right kind.

i mean, what is it you want to say for the rest of oyur life to everyone who looks at you?

I'm looking for a realism piece that defines the Dragon as Powerful/Intimidating yet, beautiful. The dragon is a symbol of my childhood. I've been playing D&D
on and off for 20 + years and with majority of the time with the same group of Friends. So, as you can tell, this is something that I've thought about long and hard. I like some of the illustrations in Monster Manual, but they are a tad to Cartoonish for me. I have a Sword of Darkness tattoo and the dragon is going to be behind it.

And, I don't really care what other people say anyways, so it doesn't really matter how they look at me. I mean, I look 18 and I'm 30 so I get looks all the time. hahaha

I'd say, go take a look in the fantasy section of arthistory.cc

Please note that when looking at that site, your browser will expand to cover the entire screen which some find annoying, so just don't mutitask when going there. Great selection of artists and themed sections. Hope that helps.

Oh, and for me, the D&D-dragons have always been the definition of how dragons should look. And the artists that worlked on that game who do awesome dragons are: Larry Elmore, Jeff Easley, Keith Parkinson and Brom, and most of them have their own galleries, as well as arthistory.cc sections.
