Need Help Bad!!!!!

Having a debate with my DM. I need help....

Our debate is over Writting a Ballad or a Poem.... I know this may sound silly.... what skill covers this?

I say Craft... its an expression of art

He says Profession... because its not creating a tangible good.

Or is it perform?

So if you could please give us some answer's. Thank You.

Personally, I use perform. Proffesion is running a business and craft is making something of tangible substance. Perform is the creative skill.

Perform, as Crothian said. Craft is definitely out, because you're not creating a material object. The examples for Profession don't list any occupations which involve much creativity or artistic flair. Finally, OA lists poetry as a Perform skill.

As an aside: Crothian whats the statute of limitations in the state of Ohio for lets say, trafic violations?

Perform.

You need to be able to draw on your own personality, as well as that of others around you to write a good poem. That implies Cha, which would lead to perform.

Also, as Hong said, it's that way in OA.

It's definitely a function of the Perform skill. Craft is totally out as you aren't making a material object - and "Profession - Poet" doesn't seem to work.

As hong noted - the "official verdict" on this is in the OA book.

If your GM wants to be REALLY pissy - like me, point out that "limericks" (a form of poetry) is explicitly listed as one of the modes of performance possible with the perform skill.

Better both than just me. Our argument on this will come from: It never says that a performer WRITES anything. There is a difference between a Poet and a Performance Poet.
