Need some new Anime to watch!

I'm a little surprised you thought it would be a Noir clone. Mostly because when I watched, fan subbed mind you, I felt like "Wow. This is some good and deep stuff."

Well, I thought it was based off browsing the DVD covers. I saw Noir first and was disappointed. Then I saw Gunslinger Girls on the shelf and looked at the back. My first impression based off the discription was that it was more or less same thing as Noir. Little girl that has been trained to shoot guns like a professional, blah, blah, blah. But for some reason I decided to take a chance on it anyways. In the back of my head I was crossing my fingers that I wouldn't be disappointed for a second time. Thank goodness I wasn't.

*is more of a Gundam Wing, Endless Waltz, Gundam Seed fan* Can't wait to see Destiny on DVD.

Actually, I like "Gundam Seed" too. Even though most of these 'elseworlds' style Gundam shows are basically a copy of the original basic story plot. But Gundam Seed does put a fresh entertaining spin on it. The only very small gripe I have about the series is that it was done under a tv budget so there are many spots where they save on animation by re-using stock footage. But thank goodness its only on the regular battles. They went and made sure the animation for the final episode battles were better. (new animation instead of re-use poses)

"Destiny" is the second series right? Any word on when that'll be hitting stateside shelves? Probably not for a while I'm guessing. I'm not gonna buy the Hong Kong DVD though. Yuck, those guys are so lazy with their subtitles.

As far as Gundam Wing goes, I watched the first 6 episodes and it felt too much like a Aaron Spelling Gundam for young pre-teen girls. But despite that initial response, I may go back and give it another try anyways.

I still haven't seen Gundam Victory or Turn A Gundam. But I've heard bad things about both.

Gunbuster is good, but I felt Gunbuster 2 was better.

Must be a recent re-doing out in Japan and fan underground that I don't know about yet. Sorry, I used to be hardcore underground anime guy who kept up with everything, but I've fallen back on those duties in these last few years. Please friend, tell me more about this new Gunbuster. Is it a retelling or a sequel? Hopefully the quality of the design work is still high. I remember watching the original and I was loving the attention to detail on everything. Like the character's TAG Heuer watch, the cockpit displays...man that show was ahead of its time. Still nothing like that on U.S. TV animation yet. (but I gotta watch what I say - - such comments may spark a flame war about the two again.)

Naruto will be coming to Toonami, I believe later on in the summer, early fall.

Yeah well I didn't get a chance to do the DVD covers. Most of my anime experiences these days fall under the fan subs that come out. For example, Basilisk, which is now being licenced by Funi, is something I'm looking forward to even though Funi is cracking down on fan subs. So now I have no idea how the series will end since I was only up to episode #7. But I'll still get the DVD.


I've heard that Destiny for DVDs will be late 2005, early 2006. No definitive word, but I'd check animenewsnetwork.com. They are 100% up to speed on such things.

Yeah I'm pretty sure there's a Gunbuster 2. I'll check again but I'm sure I saw it when I was browsing the anime section in ANN.com.
