(Netflix) K-POP DEMON HUNTERS

I was actually surprised that it was not in Korean. It felt a little weird. And was skeptical and didn't watch it until I realized what a big hit it is there (and how it has been embraced by a lot of the Kpop community).

Now it is a huge hit around the world. You think the K-wave is fading, then it just rises to new heights.

My kids love it. My elder daughter (27) and her roommate are WAY into KPop and they've recruited my younger daughter (20), who has watched the movie at least 3 times already.
And then I find that their little cousin (8) has found it and it's her favorite movie on Netflix - I think she's seen it more than the two of my kids combined.

Anyone know how how much (if any) AI they used this time? I know Sony said they were going to utilize it more to help with their animations (like Into the Spiderverse) and video games. Be curious if they used it for the music this time around too.

Note: Not a moral issue with me, just genuinely interested in the technology and what others are doing with it.

They didn't use it or certainly haven't admitted to it.

Do note that if you Google it, Google AI will lie and say they did, but then actually links to a Wikipedia article which doesn't support the claims at all and to someone using AI to make "realistic" version of the characters from the show, demonstrating how fallible AI is and how it lies very casually.

Fully anticipate characters from this in cosplay scene, at cons for the rest of this year, & Halloween.

Secretly pining that someone would mention this animation! One reason I think this surprised many is that it is approachable enough such that even if you aren't familiar with the subculture in KPop or idol culture in general, you'll get it.

At the same time, it's pretty obvious the film makers were intensely familiar with the scene, and took the time to ensure it was presented in a dignified way, while not overlooking its challenges (in so far as a lighter movie can do so).

The actors who are Korean - Ahn Hyo-seop (Jinu), Kim Yunjin (Celine) and Yi Byeong-heon (Gwi Ma) are fairly notable. Ahn was the romantic lead in Business Proposal, a fairly standard romantic drama based on a webtoon currently on Netflix. Kim was the lead in Ms Ma: Nemesis, an excellent mystery series based on Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple books (but set in modern Korea) on Viki. And Yi has been in loads of films and dramas (Squid Game, Joint Security Area, The Good The Bad and the Weird, etc) but will always have a place in my pantheon for playing Storm Shadow.

I saw Daniel Dae Kim was the doctor! :ROFLMAO:
