There was a game I played in not that long ago where my stumbled on a holy site dedicated to the FR god of lightning/electricity. I had my character try to impale his sword into a statue of the god. I seriously got jolted.

What is this Nethack, and what makes it so great?
It's a computer game descended from Rogue. You are a solo adventurer searching for the Amulet of Yendor in the Dungeons of Doom. The graphics are minimalist, mainly letters and other ASCII symbols. Many of the magic items are randomized; a purple potion may be a healing potion in one game, but an invisibility potion the next. Score is kept, so if you play on a server, you can compete with others.

I've named many D&D shopkeepers after Hack shopkeepers.

Wonotobo comes up a lot.

I always remember Asidonhopo as the Iconic Shopkeeper :)

Asidonhopo gets angry! Asidonhopo hits! Asidonhopo hits! Asidonhopo hits! --more--

Asidonhopo hits! You die... --more--
