Ok, I thought this up this morning in the shower so bear with me - one of the biggest tasks ahead of me on the Neverwinter Night's 2 game build is writing the conversations. Computer RPG conversations often bore me because the player has 3 options - 'good guy', 'greedy guy' and 'evil jerk guy'. Brainstorming up replies however can be a bit of a pain, then I though - why not make a thread of it!?
So this is a post game of sorts and let me lay down the rules. First, put vbulletin into Threaded mode for this thread by clicking here. You can return to the more traditional linear mode by clicking here.
Now, I will end this post by describing the speaking NPC and her opening line. In character reply to the opening line. I'll come along and give responses for the NPC. You may suggest responses for her but I reserve the right to make a final ruling on what she says. As a rule an NPC has only one response to a player question - but you can base a response on a number of conditions that can be programmed into the game -- these are race, class, or a skill check (usually the social skills bluff, intimidate, and diplomacy; but sometimes spot or a raw ability check comes into play).
Important Note: I reserve the right to delete posts in this thread to keep it pruned and tidy. I may even close and reopen it from time to time. The goal of the thread is to transfer the conversation here into Neverwinter Nights 2 and have it actually appear in the game. Once this particular conversation is played out I'll close the thread and create a new one with a different conversation.
The NPC is Teresa Gables, an oyasi (female halfling) barkeep. She is standing behind the counter of her tavern on a raised balcony behind it so that she's eye level even to the humans in the bar.
With a warm smile she says...
"Welcome to the Green Gable friends. Can I get you anything to drink or perhaps your lookin for some of the finest cookin in Lochshire?"
