New Battlestar Galactica: Is it me or are Cylons the worst whiners in the galaxy?

Ok, I am late to the party here, and I'm in season 2.5, so no spoilers please.

I am more interested in talking about the Cylons generally.

Is it me, or are the new Cylons the biggest whiners and bullies ever?

They start a war by nuking 12 worlds, reducing humanity from, let's be generous and say each world had 2 billion people, so 24 billion, down to 50,000.

And every time a human kills one of them, they start crying and yelling "murderer! monster! how could you do that!"

I really wonder what they could possibly have expected.

Flowers? Thank you cards?

BEWARE SPOILER FOR BSG and CAPRICA!

It makes perfect sense considering the first Cylon/Skinjob AI was created in the image of a spoiled brat of a teenage girl turned terrorist.

In one of the expanded Star Wars universe novels I vaguely recall some crap about giving droids rights, no more memory wiping. Make me think that someone back in BSG history forgot to wipe his droid's memory.

Not a Skinjob. But a Cylon chasis.

And it actually does seem to break the canon established in new BSG.

And that was

The first skinjobs were Ellen and Tigh and they created the Cylons two thousand years ago so they can live forever, and because they couldn't have children of their own, but they live so long they forget it.

So there's that.

And that's why I'm really frustrated with Caprica and new BSG.

The other reason is that there really wasn't any real plan by the Cylons, they were just spoiled brats who never got enough attention from their mommy and daddy so they went on a killing spree to wipe out humanity.

Unless he was trying to say that Caprica happens before two thousand years ago.

It's one big huge mess.

The original one had a tighter continuity to it.

I really did like the first new BSG miniseries though.

I think you got yer facts wrong, though odds are good I'm going to get a few wrong as well in correcting you...
On the 13th colony, they created robots and skinjobs (don't know if they called them cylons). Ellen seems to have been the chief scientist in that. She saved tigh and the other 3. They basically hibernated and went out into space. This is the earth that Starbuck found.

Meanwhile, about 2000 years later, Caprica invents Cylons. Namely based on software made by Zoey. They quickly go bad, thus, the first Cylon war.

At some point a truce is made (not shown on tv, nor is the actual war). The cylons go away to an unclaimed area of space. There they refine their own design, partly in pursuit of coming closer to humanity. They discover Ellen and the rest of the first 5. Ellen and friends help the cylons get to a human design (scenes from Razor would have been an early Cylon research).

So during this 40 year truce, the cylons learn to make the other 7 models, and ressurection ships (from Ellen's ressurection technology). Due to some argument with the Brother whatshisname model, he wipes the final 5 and seeds them in various places (like Tigh as adama's friend).

Then the Cylons attack the 12 colonies, because they are ready to replace humanity. That's where the TV pilot/movie takes place.

Later, Starbuck goes wonky and finds the original Earth (where the 5 came from).

Since that planet sucked, they left and found a new planet that is what WE call earth.

Enitities that appear to be 6 and Gaius seem to have guided humanity to this planet to restart.

The concept of "All this has happened before, and will happen again" is applicable.

The planet Kobol was abandoned, probably due to a robot uprising. the 13th colony was one of the refugees. They reset themselves technologically, and eventually also invented new life as robots. Which had an uprising, and effectively wiped themselves out.

The 12 colonies (Caprica in particular) invented new life in the form as Cylons, and now they've got an uprising.

The 50,000 refugees will find a new home, and potentially make the same mistake, which is where the very final scene is asking US the viewer if we got the message.
And yeah, if the Cylons had a plan, it pretty much went to crap once they started pursuing Galactica.

Isn't there a scene where Caville basically states this?

"The plan was - we blow up the 12 Colonies and then all meet for dinner in the evening." (Not the actual quote).

Did you guys see the 18th and final episode of Caprica?

Here's some spoiler...

The Epilogue of the episode reveals that the Greystones and Zoey reconcile. After it became public knowledge that Daniel and his Cylons prevented a terrorist attack by the Monotheists people came to trust them and Cylons spread to be used in every part of society. Butlers, Dog Walkers, Construction Workers, Cops, etc. It goes on to show that the Greystones went to work to create the first skinjob of the modern Cylons, it was Zoey! They built her a skinjob body so they could be together in the real world. It's also revealed that William Adama was not the Bill Adama we know! The Adama we know is in fact his half brother, who's born when the elder Adama rebuilds his family. This moves the timeline of events back a bit. The last few moments of Caprica imply that Zoey is the first Skinjob Cylon. However, all this takes place BEFORE the Cylon revolt. We wont see that revolt till Blood and Chrome, the next prequel series or movie...
