D&D 5E New class niche?

So one thing I have noticed missing is an arcane gish type character. Yes there's various subclasses but I mean a dedicated one like an arcane paladin.

And a Sorcerer version of the blade dancer. Psions another obvious one.

Anyway im thinking some kind of tanky d12 hit dice dragon disciple based off the 3E prestige class with bits of the 4E warden and D&D next playtest Sorcerer.

Thoughts?

Bring back the Binder, even though they merged some of the things about the Binder into Warlock. But the concept of a class with variable abilities that they can change every short or long rest would be an interested.

Much like the warlord, every few months someone brings up an arcane warrior type class and I have to say, I'm all for it. I've played around with a few different homebrew classes but just haven't quite made something I like. I did like the Magus class that Benjamin Huffman released a while back, though I did think that had some minor issues such as no extra attack at level 5. It was also based on early 5e so it did pick up war magic but that wasn't until 7th level. Nowadays I'd grant the upgraded Extra attack that allows a cantrip in place of an attack and perhaps just do away with war magic.

If I ever manage to finish something that works, it would at its base have the following:

D10 hit die, extra attack+ at 5th level, half caster with cantrips, all weapons, light and medium armour and shields (heavy armour would be for specific subclasses).

I don't think I'd create a class spell list, instead I'd just give them access to the wizard list and go from there (maybe add something called blade magic which gives them the smite spells).

I'd like to give them something like runes that can empower them as a unique class feature, just haven't quite figured out how to do it.
