some of that I find suprising some I find meets my experiances.

I play Guild Wars alot - and assume that all players are male unless proven otherwise.
My guild uses team speak for voice control of some intense battles - we have two womens (voices) in a 20ish person guild.
2 of my 4 chars are female, and I never notice different treatment.

but even in the days of MUDs (txt only) games building a false personality for your RL self was usually disliked. Although one motherly, sympathetic admin got away with it. He continued to be motherly and have a sympathetic ear after admitting being male. He was treated exactly the same afterword by most.

-of course that game resulted in at least 2 affairs, 3 marriages, and one civil union - more social interation than killing was common on that MUD.
My wife and I remember it fondly.
