New D&D movie?

I'm looking forward to the next one. Too many people keep putting down the D&D Movie.

There was so much information about the movie going around before it was released that I knew what it was going to be like before I went to see it. I had no expectations going in, although I do admit I wish it had been better.

It was Courtney Solomon's first film! Does anyone remeber how bad Speilberg's first movie was -- the one withthe killer, flying fish! Now that, I hear, was bad.

Later,

p.s. BTW, I found this legal disclaimer on The S.F.R.P.G. Zone website. That's quite an interesting connnection, don't you think. Traveller movie anyone?

I'm all for second chances.

That said, the first movie was bad even by B-movie standards. There were plenty of things to mock and that's fun but if the producers wanted to aim it at kids, they should have done so. Since when did overacting, stupid villains and terrible heroes make for a good movie aimed at teens and children (the PG-13 crowd). Austin Powers & X2 were PG-13 and they got away with plenty of things. You can still be dark and get a PG-13 rating. Tone down the cheeze and you're there. It's ok to have one character be cheezy, but not the entire cast...

But I'll probably still see it in the theater if they release D&D2, just because. I really wanted to like the first one, I really did...

Second Chances???

Second chances you say.........second chances he said......

HELL NO!!!

Make the movie release in 2006, then maybe.....I will...possible.

The Elf girl is actually a half-elf, according to her stats (stats were released in Dragon Magazine).

I kinda liked the first one, for what it's worth. I mean, I knew it would suck, but I had fun.

Why are there two threads on this?

What does it really matter? If you think it will suck, simply don't see it. If it happens to be good, so be it. If it's not, no big deal. I really couldn't care any less. Besides, they could have worked on the first movie for 5 years and it wouldn't have been any better.

Because, this - like the Ranger and alignment - needs to be discussed without end.

We are obsessive sometimes, are we not? :D

Either that, or someone just simply didn't notice there was already a thread (or they were in different forms and later one/both were moved here).

:)

I liked my first possibility though :D

I known this for a fact that Gary Gygex was a Extra in the film the he didn't get much of a part in the movie. The movie was more like a boring version of a Dragon Lance because it had too many Dragons apearing in the movie. For some reason the Director try to make the film more into the storyline then to D&D base stuff, but insted he screw up with the Scenrios that were confusing to understand, and not many fighting scenes in the movie interested me, I was hopeing they would had gave more action to the film, but the movie had limited to time.

I really hope the next movie they change the Director and get a new Script Writer and kill the side kick in the movie.

Re

That first D&D movie was one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. If the new D&D movie is reviewed badly, I will not go see it. They had better take a hint from LotR and make a decent fantasy movie. I don't care how much it looks like D&D as long as it is good.

I will repress my astonishment until we discover the names of the writers and director...

(Even I am not a forgiving enough audience to not be outraged if Solomon writes, directs or in anyway colaborates on this movie. If he has any creative control over the sequel it will not see one penny from me.)
