In addition to the looks changes, they also brought the art galleries behind the subscription wall, a fairly major change that actually pisses me off. For as long as I can remember surfing to the Wizards of the Coast website, I was able to look at the artwork in products they were producing. Apparently not anymore.

That's a very poor move. Again with the overemphasis on the site of being an Insider versus everyone else. :(

I agree. I get a clear "Insider vs other" vibe on the site. Now don't get me wrong, the new site itself is a major step forward and vast improvement over the old one. Kudo's to those who did the work. But then again I'm a GM who doesn't believe in paying a monthly subscription to play my table top RPG, so I guess I'm not part of the sites target market.

I'm at work using IE6 and everything looks FUBAR'd to me as all the content is in one long column along the left-hand side of the website (a FUBAR'd website at work is nothing new to me, as the old one appeared wonky too). Anyone else having these issues? I can't wait to go home and take a look in earnest.

I understand that, at work, you may not have the option of using a different browser... But complaining that a website looks bad in IE6 is like complaining that a black and white TV isn't showing any color.

I guess I have to find yet more money to make this site competitive. My dog is hungry.

Don't worry. Their forums still suck, so I doubt that they will be taking your business.. They might be able to do new flashy things, but the navigation is horrible and slow, which make their forums even more useless than the old ones.

Flashy? Yes. Quite nice looking.

Throwing D&DInsider in my face to the point of honestly being offputting to anyone not paying for it? Very much yes.
Are you kidding me? Next thing you say: "Throwing D&D 4th Edition in my face to the point of honestly being offputting to anyone not playing the game?"

That are the products they are selling! If they don't throw it in my face on their website, they are doing it wrong!

"Oh no, another note on Primal Power! I don't even play 4E D&D! WotC website is totally useless to me". Yes. the D&D RPG website is.

Here are links you might be looking for:

For whatever reason, the new forums have run slowly and like crap for me.

Now the entire D&D website is like the forums.

And the galleries thing? Majorly, majorly lame. I say this as someone who currently has a DDi subscription.

Bad move, WotC. Very bad move.

Oh, for extra fun, to find the *3.x* art galleries, I had to search for a 3.x book that does not share a title with a 4e book and 'gallery', which got me the gallery for that book, which then got me a link to the 3.x gallery archive.

So this new site is even more frakkin' useless to navigate than the old one.

And uglier, too.

*golfclap*
