New Eldritch Essence Invocation

Falling Icicle

Adventurer
Subduing Blast
Least; 2nd; Eldritch Essence

This eldritch essence invocation allows you to change your eldritch blast into a subduing blast. A subduing blast deals non-lethal damage instead of normal hp damage, allowing you to incapacitate your opponents rather than kill them.

1-for-1 looks fine to me.

Nonlethal Substitution adds a level to regular spells. It really shouldn't, IMO.
In Shadowrun, nonlethal damage spell cause less drain (negative effect for the spellcaster) than lethal ones. The result in my experience is that most mages therefore rely more on Stun Bolt and Stun Ball then the lethal Mana Bolt and Ball.
You suffer less drain, your enemies are out of combat just as well as with the other spell, but you can try to take them hostage or interrogate them. And if you're caught, you haven't used your magic to kill anyone (not that it would really help a runner, I suppose). (And note that neither mana bolt nor stun bolt work on machines or technology, so you don't have the comparitive disadvantage nonlethal damage in D&D has)
I am not saying that this is bad - maybe it's what the designers of SR really intented - but be wary of the consequences.

Using an eldritch essence though is a cost in itself - because you can't use the other ones. But you can stack metamagics on a spell (even if it's costly).

But I am not sure that Nonlethal Substitution actually increases the spell level. I'd have to check at home.
