New Feat: Bloodline of Evil

Couple Comparisons:

Races of Faerun:

Improved Energy Resistance- raises a natural resistance from 5 to 10.

Oriental Adventures:

Resist Poison- +4 bonus to saves vs poison

For your feat to be balanced I would drop the poison resistance altogether, as well as the monster summoning. Give player's choice of (1) elemental resistance 2 and make it a big roleplaying thing like demonic blood in the family. I would say throw in a -2 reaction towards celestials and youre good to go. Alternately, go with the poison bonus (+2) but reduce the (1) elemental resistance to 1.

That would be a balanced feat, imo.

The original is actually, pretty good.... as a template.

In general, I disapprove of feats that give supernatural or spell-like abilities. I am wary of extraordinary abilities granted by feats but those can at least be construed as being "possible" in the progression of a hero's life.

In general, any feat that can only be taken at level 1 should be a template.

Perhaps you could make it into a chain of feats?

Start with an initial feat (taken at character creation) that give the PC a bloodline of evil and then give him/her access to a chain of feats that would allow exploration of that dark background and a gradual increase in power of the bloodline.

It is an interesting idea and I wouldn't throw it away just because of the comments of people who think the feat is too powerful. After all, what's right for your campaign may not be right for everyone else. As it stands, I wouldn't use the feat, and I imagine few others would allow it in their campaigns either.

hm....well thanks all for the comments, it is helpful...

i Have however decided that i won't use it...it...really is too powerful...and templates don't appeal as they change the rate at which you level up :P

And the reason this all started? the new Archeon - Lord of Darkness (TM) model from the Warhammer range...
