New Feat: Strike Undead

why just bludgeoning? Like a long sword can't split an arm or take a chunk out of some zombies side? Clearly this wouldn't work against skeletons but write that in somehow in the special.

At first it was just a feat which allowed any intelligent fighter-typewith some knowledge of undead to strike such creatures with critical hits.

It turned as below, where the strong fighter-type smashes undead to pulp with a powerful bludgeoning weapon (which has been the bane of undead for a long time).

But I get your point. Intelligent fighters need cooler abilities, and I would very much like to reward such fighters.

Crush Undead [General]
You can crush undead to pulp with a bludgeoning weapon.
Prerequisite: 5 ranks in Knowledge (necrology), Power Attack, Weapon Focus with a bludgeoning weapon, Str 15+. Benefit: You can score critical hits against corperal undead. Special: This feat allows for corperal undead to be affected by abilities from which they were previously immune. Such abilities include the ranger's favoured enemy damage, and the rogue's sneak attack.

NOW I understand why everybody thinks the bard is weak :)

For the Feat:
I don`t like it. There is a good reason that Undead are immune to Critical hits, and don`t underestimate a Rogue willing to take the feat - his best combat ability (Sneak Attack) is balanced by not working against everyone at every time. Taking that away might screw some thinks.

If you want to make some guys better at fighting Undead, make it a competence Bonus to Damage and/or Attack Rolls.
(I always wondered why Weapon Specialiastion gives you a +2 Bonus on Damage Rolls - even vs. undead - but the Ranger Favored Enemy ability not. But that`s just the way it is...)

Perhaps i've created a too unbalanced new house rules, but i've written up a KNOWLEDGE (UNDEAD) (CONSTRUCT) (...) table, where rangers and thief (or whoever has normally special bonus against foes, but not undead or construct, or the like) can pend their points: each time they face someone or something that could be one of their well studied foes, they have to check on this table (increase in DC with the hit dice of the monster): if they actually recognize the type of the enemy, they will know also all his weakness, thus to make sneak attack, or make critical hits, or use their bonus to damage, ...
This table is still in Italian (my language, but u should already understood that), but i will translate it if anyone is interested.
One last thing as an example: to recognize a zombie you need to pass a DC8 check, but for a lich will be something around 25...
