New fey feature - a shining example

I just wanted to draw attention to WotC's new Fey Feature, since it is, IMHO, one of the best articles we've seen from WotC in a while now.

The article actually takes a very "ecology" type look at issues of long-life, both in mindset and in biological terms. It talks about how you can define "immortality" in your campaign, and what that means for aging modifiers, diseases, and such. There's even a special poison made for turning an immortal creature mortal!

This, this is the sort of thing that really fleshes out characters in a campaign. Its a great job of showing "options, not restrictions". My hat is off to Gwen Kestrel and Faith Price for this great article! :)

i read the article just a few hours ago and couldn't help but having the same response: a truly well thought-out piece with great implications for the campaign [and game] at large. mostly flavor, but innovative game mechanics too!

m'ladies, it appears you have a strong fan-base in japan.

All of the Fey Feature articles have been very well done, and I hope they keep them up! I plan on using the Fey much more in future campaigns, and these articles have been a big help to me...

I'll chime in too. The latest fey feature was very good, maintining an unusually high level of quality and creativeness. It is such a shame that the system as a whole largely disses fey.

On the other hand, I'm making a modified campaign where elves are immortal (as in Tolkien), and the article has given me a checklist of sorts. Coincidental and useful; what more can you ask for?

I loved this article. It's the best I've seen on their website, well, since the Third Edition Announcement! :D

I read it four times over, just to get every last drop out of it. Now I'm going to have to include that poison in my next adventure...
