New player needs advice for wizard

Thanks to Dandu and Nagol for those links; they were quite insightful. I noticed that the build specializes in Divination, which--to my understanding--allows the player to prohibit a single school. In this case, the prohibited school was Enchantment. Would Dandu or anyone else care to explain this decision?

1) Compared to schools like Conjuration or Transmutation, there just are not that many Enchantment spells. In a way, you are minimizing your losses.

2) A lot of Enchantment spells are Mind-Affecting. Many creatures are immune to the effects of Enchantment spells (plants, undead, etc.).

3) A lot of Enchantment spells are pretty redundant. Many of the Enchantment spells do basically the same thing as other Enchantment spells.

IMHO, Enchantment is the first school I would prohibit if I were building a specialist wizard.

I could probably take options from Complete Scoundrel if I ran it by the DM if anybody has suggestions from that particular book.

well... Complete scoundrel would be more helpful to the scout and the rogue... not much for you in there except for a few nice spells... just check them out... along with all spells from spell compendium!!! ....also check out spells from complete mage...
Comp. Mage + Comp Scoundrel are the only two books published after Spell Compendium... with those three... (+ PHB of course!!!) you have all the spells there are...

Does the Spell Compendium have all the environment-book spells? (Stormwrack, Sandstorm, Frostburn) and from the Planar Handbook?

While it was published after those books, it does not have all of the spells located in them.

It also does not have all the spells from the Forgotten Realms Setting... weird... perhaps they tried to filter... broken spells?? don't know...
