New Scarred Lands idea thread

Re: being 'that guy'

1. How do we know that Scarn is a sphere or even a planet at all? (we don't at least not as far as I know)
For all we know Scarn is in the shape of mobius strip, or some other configuration.

2. It's good to have a gameworld with an appropriate level of abstraction where things aren't set. I'm fine with having to make up some of this stuff.

San -- thanks for the update. The Mercane was a good touch, I wouldn't have thought of that. Did you stick any of the other stuff I mentioned in? Are you planning on allowing them to return to FR? If so how are FR/SL related?

Graf to answer your question, yes, I wound up using a lot of the ideas that were posted. (I had 3 pages of downloaded notes so I'm not sure whose Ideas were which)

I figured if you are studying planer geography then its only a matter of time before you encounter the Arcane . . .And since I have manual of the planes I figured I would put it to use.

As far as returning to FR its the characters long term goal but the players realize that if they succede then they will have to roll up new characters. after all I am runing a SL game not an FR game. I think I will introduce the mirror realm as you and nightfall did. I think that will really creep them out. Did you guys allow the pc's to pass through the mirror to any other mirror, only mirrors they had seen or oly specific mirrors?;) I really liked the mirror idea.

So is anyone running mercenaries in the SL? My current group is consist of exiled mercs from Mithril who basically wound up getting a group of 10 paladins killed due to the player's stupidity.

No mercs but I think my players have decided that I'm a little too hard core for them. ;) Mainly because of last night's session. I could say more but I'll hold off until you all beg me for more info. ;)

*also enjoyed the Mercane touch* Something other worldly and yet so simple. As for why I think it's a sphere, well if it's a square, there be lots of people seeing more edges. ;)

Mercane

when I finish working him up I'll post him for you guys (should be in a couple of days - I just had knee surgury so I'm not getting arround really well yet)

Part of the problem I've had is a time constraint so I've been making notes here and there and turning them into campaign notes when I get the time so I have half of my stuff on all these various pieces of scratch paper and the other in computer format.

From the Black Company, I've just swiped Lady and made her 'Bliss', the new commander of the Soldiers of Fortune while the former leader is off hunting down the necromancer responsible for their banishment. I've made a few other NPCs as well, mostly soldiers from Soverign Stone and Legioniers from Mercenaries, to act as mentors and buffers between Bliss and the players until they get up in levels.

Right now their wandering through the fallen proterate and fighting off waves of orcs, looking to win back a castle or something of that nature.

Sounds most excellent. Well since my players read the boards I'll just post what I got here.

Originally just small but stalwart band of heroes, Opheila, a cleric from Angelsgate in Durrover, Silas, mighty paladin of Madriel hailing some where in the Plains of Lede, Ban Stormwatcher, elven trainee of the Vigils, born and raised in Vera Tre before going to Vesh to start his training, and Varl Kadek, roguish fighter half elf whose birth land isn't known to any, maybe not even himself. They all journeyed to Hollowfaust, seeking answers in one for or another. What they got was a convoluted plot involving Slitheren, a possible Penumbral Lord that is working his way into power, and something about "the Rising" or "Raising" of Titans. So far they've found many an undead foe as well a few live ones, and now are on a quest to secure the battlestaff of Taason the Black from his slightly hidden but very well defended lair before the Bad Guys do. Unfortunately they forgot to bring along a good rogue...so we'll have to see. Oh and now they have Hannah, an Albadian cleric of Madriel trained to be a "wise woman" of her clan.

group

sounds like somewhere between our groups is the stuff of legonds. mine consists of:

Orlan of Kryll - human barbarian (germanic not norse)
Whippit "goblin-shanker" a halfling ranger/rogue (who surprise surprise is really good as a rogue)
Casius - human priest (young book priest) of Madriel
and
Tyne Nallon the not so renouned deep halfling wizard:D

Knee surgery? That :( SUCKS:( .
Did you mention this before & I missed it?

Just remember it could be worse.... you could have a bunch of players who play halflings.:D

I'll try to post what I have for the Demiplane of Mirrors this weekend.

Hope you feel better....

Well perhaps, but I doubt that your barbarian would try to jump a 15ft gap with only 10ft of running room (needless to say, Silas failed but he did live. )
