New Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

Rurdev sees Nebten offer his aid. Knowing the dwarf well, and having stood in battle beside him, the shifter stands. "I am R-Rurdev. I am an a-a-accomplished tr-tr-tracker and warrior. I offer m-m-my aid."

The warforged focuses on the elf. Unfinished business of the Five; they echo in your words. His steps bind me, as do your words. The dwarf and the shifter know of me; they know my name.

OOC: Incarnation, Infernal Warlock 3.

"A warrior and tracker, very good. Both may be useful I'm afraid." He gives an uneasy smile.

Alfred seems a little taken aback by Incarnation's words. It takes him a moment to come up with a response.

"Well I- Well I don't quite no what you mean there, but I think you're offering to help, and by the looks of you, I'd say you just might be able to." His head darts about scanning the room, and he finally motions to the table in the corner a bit away from some of the other patrons.

"Three is good but five or six is better I'd say. Why don't we take a seat over there, so we can have our privacy and keep an eye on the door, for more adventurer's eh?"

He shuffles over in a slow hurry, and takes a seat with his back partially to the door. Apparently he expects you to keep an eye out for him. "While we wait I'll get you gentlemen a round of drinks. It's the least I could do for your eagerness to help."

He motions for the waitress.

[sblock=Passive Insight 13]There is something about this man that is not quite sincere. It may just be that he's a bit disheveled, or something he said might not be true.[/sblock]

[sblock=Passive Perception 15]When choosing his table Alfred's eyes lingered a little longer on the gentleman from the Jade Empire. He also chose the table farthest away from him, and sat with his back facing him.[/sblock]

Nebten said:
Maybe. Does he hav' 1 eye?

The man shifts in his seat, and ponders tow dwarf's words for a second. "Perhaps, he might have lost it during the shipwreck. Although another one of my clan, Yung Fi Ten is elder than me and lost an eye during a battle with an Oni warband. I will be willing to hear what you have to say about this person, master dwarf: Have you by chance meet him in person, or did you just spotted him randomly?" The man asks, and stands quickly, before walking next to the dwarf. He stands rigidly waiting for an answer, until the elf priest enters the tavern, requesting people to help him out. The man moves away to a far away table. None the less, the sorcerer shouted at the elf from his position, keeping his sleeves together, and his hands hidden underneath.
"Perhaps I could offer my services. I'm dire need of currency, and you could use the knowledge from the far lands of Jade I possess."

Incarnation sits, and crosses his fingers on the wooden table; small tendrils of smoke waft from where he places them. From under his cloak, the pulsing red of his eyes look into the elf as if divining him. In the skeins of this city are tangled with unclear intent. Best make yours clear before entrapped we become.

Alfred turns and faces the sorcerer and frantically waves him over to their table, lines of worry run down his face. He looks to the warforged, and then the other adventurers, and it becomes clear to you that he is not worrying over his friend, but seems suddenly intimidated by your group.

"I have no desire sirs, to make my intent unclear." He lies plainly like the skin of Old Vic. "I simply wanted you to have a chance to sit, and sit my bones as well, while we wait for a bit more. Explaining the situation to every new person would be foolish now wouldn't it?"

The waitress comes by and places several ales on the table. Alfred grabs one and nervously takes a few large gulps, drinking far more than you would have expected a older man of cloth to be able to.

"But if it will help calm the situation," He takes a good breath, calming himself. "My friend was kidnapped by the some hoods working for the Merchants of Bacarate. I went to the city guard, and they dropped the case citing a lack of evidence but I saw it, I know he was. Now I think they are keeping him in old Dauntonian House of Fine Oration."

It's clear that most of his words are false but there is some truth in his concern for his friend. Something has happened indeed.

While I would like a leader, I don't beleive it to be nessescary. Still I'd like one or two more, and at least one more day for people to see this and respond.

I am away from Friday Evening to Sunday Evening. This adventure will most likely start early next week.[/sblock]

Dane's nose twitches a bit after his host speaks. What ever insight he gathered was quickly erased by the offering of ale.

Incarnation does not even have to look at the waitress; they know better than to serve him. Instead he continue to wait, saying only, Your words are as smoke and life—ephemeral. I can wait longer than any else here; the truth will out.

OOC: Leader+Controller would be nice; as usual for L4W, we'll be striker heavy. Oh, and I love Incarnation. ;)

The sorcerer walks next to the table after the gestures of the man. He now looks perplex at the man, so evidently deploying a lie. If there was something dangerous to face, it was better to know the situation fully.
"A pleasure to make you acquittance, I'm Sheng of the Zim Clan." Sheng bows respectively to the ones sitting on the table. He remains standing. "I understand your concern, I've lost many of my clan members." he offers stoically. "I suppose that you wish us to wipe the criminal's facilities and return the freedom to your friend, but given the fact that you are evidently not telling the entire truth, or concealing part of it, I'll give you two choices: Don't lie to me, or don't pretend that I risk my safety in order to achieve anything for you."

The eladrin looks up, mustering the forming group.
"If you need one more, I will gladly help." He says, looking straight at the elf.

Has still to be approved.
