New Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

Mikara looks up through her half-closed eyelids. The unusual confluence of familiar-looking faces, however, gives her enough energy to manage a hearty smile, and a ready response

And with that, her eyes focus once more on the 6 empty mugs in front of her, awaiting the druid's story, and a 7th beer.

Surprisingly, Mikara's language is not slurred.

"I've been prey so long,
I seem to have forgotten
what it's like to hunt.

And, as you can see,
I am now hunting more ale."

Mikara lifts her empty glass, and waves it in the direction of the bartender. She then flings him another coin. Turning her attention back to the druid, she continues...

"Not much else to do.

Tell me, my kinsman,
How fares the sylvan world now.
I miss my freedom."

"So I take it that you three are hunters?", Zharne asks Mikara, Tristan and Gellan, "I consider myself something of hunter myself, say what is your preferred prey?"

Gellan turns to face the elf. "I am not sure I understand you. Hunting is done because there is need -- we hunt the an'tesh, the wild hornbeasts, for their meat, their hides, their horns. They are not hard to find, but they are hard to bring down. Smaller game we take as we can -- there is more skill involved, they do not gather in great herds. I can kill a hare with this," as he pulls a smoothly curved wooden stick from his belt, "but first I must find the hare, and hares are good at not being found. An an'tesh would barely notice being struck with it."

Feyr finish his mug "I think I'll go search elsewhere for that group. The gods won't like much to see me doing nothing to seek back their artifact. Put your heart into what you do and the gods will reward you." On that, Feyr leave the group and the Tavern.

[SBLOCK=OOC]I've decided to retire Feyr... a Shifter Paladin of Lauto level 2 should appear in the next few days.[/SBLOCK]

A moment later, the door open again. A shifter in full plate mail enter the room. He walks to the bar and asks to the waitress. "I heard this place is where you come for adventuring. It is a promising place to become rich, to mark his name in history book and to find his death."

The waitress stare a moment at the shifter. "You could tell that..." she replies.

"Fine, I'll take a mug of dwarven spirit." he asks as he put a gold piece on the bar.

"It is free to adventurer, but you need to state your name if you wish to stay here." the waitress replies.

The shifter seems surprise but quickly reply. "Perfect!" he takes back his gold. "I'll take two mugs in that case. My name is Gloom."

The waitress gives the shifter his two mugs without more words. Gloom drink the first mug in a moment. The then grab the second mug and walk to a table. Seeing an empty chair between Gellan and Zharne, he asks "Can I sit here?" but before he get an answer, he sits down.

"They serves good alcohol here." tells Gloom, taking a sip in his mug.

The cloaked figure had been sitting quietly near where Gellan and friends sat. She quietly listened to his talk about hunting until Gloom came in and talked to the waitress. "Free drinks?"

She get up and goes to the bar and soon returns to her table with several mugs, each with a different drink it. She then tries each before settling on one to drink. Red and black hair can be seen peeking out from underneath the hood of her cloak.

[sblock=In Elven]"Welcome, kin. It is good to see another of our kind in this Dayna-forsaken city. Like Mikara, I, too, have felt like prey too long. As for what I enjoy hunting ... anything that tries to run."[/sblock]As Tristan finishes his sentence, a mischievous grin spreads across his face. It soon turns to a look of reminiscence, as though the elf is recalling fond memories.

Switching to the common tongue he continues, "Isn't this tavern supposed to attract adventure? I dislike sitting idle like this."

"What, am I at the wrong place?" asks Gloom to Tristan. "You are all hunters? Like you I though it was a place to find adventures... wait a second, it is! The waitress to me so a moment ago." The shifter drink half of his dwarven spirit. "So asking anyone of you about how frequently does the opportunity to go in adventure arise in this place, I will probably have no answer..."

Tristan sighs. "I have heard the same as you, shifter, and I did indeed happen across adventure in this building mere days ago. I simply grow impatient."
[sblock=OOC]Might be important to note that I, the player, am not getting impatient ... Tristan just dislikes cities and wants to get out of this one as soon as possible ;)[/sblock]

Jade had finished a mug and was 1/2 way through her second. The drinks up here were so different that the ones she was used to. It seemed clear that Jade was following the conversation at glooms table, as she repeated some of the words Gloom said. "Hunters... Adventure..."

"I agree, any good cause will do, as long as it doesn't make us wait too long." replies Gloom before drinking another good sip of his spirit. "This city is huge. I've never seen anything like that. I could even find some quality equipment. I had heard of Daunton, but it is the first time I put my feet here. Pretty different from Khytira."
