New Warlock Pacts (Ancestral & Death)

Quickleaf

Legend
As ghosts and the Shadowfell will play a prominent role in my 4e campaign, I decided to create two new warlock pacts IMC instead of waiting for "shadow" power source classes.

Ancestral Pact
You have sworn to honor your ancestors by completing that which they could not, or carrying on a sworn duty. While these ancestral spirits support you in your endeavor, they are not wholly beneficent. Hungering for the world of the living, they seek to act out through you, and can be domineering, vengeful, and manipulative. Only completion of their mission – through you – will grant them final respite; until that time they exist in limbo, looming shades in your family’s memory.
Ancestral Memory: When you reduce an enemy under your Warlock’s Curse to 0 HP or fewer, you gain temporary access to a feat of your choice until the end of your next turn. You must meet all prerequisites of this feat.

Eldritch Light Warlock (All) Attack 1
An eerie light surrounds your enemy who panics at the sound of haunting voices calling to them, lashing out at phantoms.
At-Will * Arcane, Charm, Implement, Psychic
Standard Action, Ranged 10
Target: One creature
Attack: Cha vs. Will
Hit: 1d6 + Cha psychic damage, and target is dazed until the end of your next turn.

Ancestor’s Aegis Warlock (Ancestral) Attack 1
Ghostly defenders come to your aid, leaving an oncoming attacker writhing in agony as searing light repels them.
Encounter * Arcane, Implement, Radiant
Immediate Interrupt, Ranged 10
Trigger: An enemy makes an attack against you.
Effect: Gain +2 to a defense of your choice
Attack: Cha vs. Will
Hit: 1d6 + Cha radiant damage

Spirit Swarm Warlock (Ancestral) Attack 1
Ghostly spirits swarm about your enemy, attempting to drag them to their doom.
Daily * Arcane, Implement, Necrotic
Standard Action Ranged 10
Target: One creature
Attack: Cha vs. Fortitude
Hit: 3d8 + Cha necrotic damage, target is knocked prone, and you slide the target 2 squares.

Ancestral Guidance Warlock (Ancestral) Utility 2
Ghosts whisper to you, revealing a weakness in your enemy’s defense.
Encounter * Arcane
Minor Action, Personal
Effect: You learn any vulnerabilities of your current foes. If your foes have no vulnerabilities you may instead learn their weakest defense (AC, Fortitude, Reflex, or Will).

Death Pact
You have gazed into the face of death and bargained for your immortal soul. Perhaps you will achieve a form of cursed immortality by sending others to the grave in your stead, or perhaps you have returned from the shadow between life and death to perform a quest and willingly lay down your life when the time comes. Her icy hand wrapped about your heart, the Raven Queen longs to hold you in her eternal embrace.
Eternal Reward: When you reduce an enemy under your Warlock’s Curse to 0 HP or fewer, you may use a healing surge.

Cold Embrace Warlock (Death) Attack 1
From the Shadowfell, you draw upon the cold hand of death to squeeze your enemy’s heart, draining them of all passion and emotion.
Encounter * Arcane, Cold, Necrotic, Implement
Standard Action Ranged 10
Target: One creature
Attack: Cha vs. Fortitude
Hit: 2d6 + Cha cold and necrotic damage, and the target is slowed and loses all morale bonuses until the end of your next turn.

Curse of the Grave Warlock (Death) Attack 1
Invoking the name of death, you curse your enemy to feel the pressure of the grave while they are yet living.
Daily * Arcane, Charm, Implement, Psychic
Standard Action, Ranged 10
Target: One creature
Attack: Cha vs. Will
Hit: 3d8 + Cha psychic damage, and the target is enervated (save ends).

Face of Death Warlock (Death) Utility 2
Revealing how you would look if you had died, you momentarily become undead and your visage terrifies your enemies.
Encounter * Arcane
Minor Action, Personal
Effect: Until the end of your next turn, you gain the undead type and your attacks dealing psychic, cold, or necrotic damage gain a +5 damage bonus.

Pretty cool pacts. Let's see...

Ghost Light: I would say, in general, if a power can be more than one pact, make it all. I could easily see any of the warlocks do this through varying means. Also, as an at-will and dazed until the end of your next turn, what happens if you hit them twice in a row? Do they now stay dazed until the following turn? It may be obvious when we understand stacking better, but I'm unsure for now.

Ancestor's Aegis: Do you want them to get the +2 against the attack that triggers this or any after? If to the trigger, it's an immediate interrupt.

Spirit Swarm/Ancestral Guidance/Cold Embrace: Awesome

Eternal Reward: IDK how powerful this will be in play, but I would think regaining second wind is pretty good.

Curse of the Grave: I think they changed enervated with weakened in KOtS

Face of death: We'll have to see what being undead does to know how powerful this can be. looks okay otherwise and plays nicely with your Faun if you give it the racial i posted today.

Good call.

Yeah, I'm waiting to understand stacking effects first.

Good point, yes, an immediate interrupt is what it should be.

Spirit Swarm/Ancestral Guidance/Cold Embrace: Awesome
:)

Seems similarly powered to teleport to me. Teleport might allow me to avoid damage in the first place (Misty Step), but second wind allows me to recover once I've taken damage (Eternal Reward).

Curse of the Grave: I think they changed enervated with weakened in KOtS
Ah, thanks, can't keep up with the changes!

I was going for the flash of lightning illuminating a zombie face kind of thing. Once I understand undead better I'll know if this is balanced.
