Newbie Guides to D&D and DMing ?

I have some great female friends in Rio that want to start RPGing D&D... but I live in Brasilia. I can't give them that much support or even DM a few sessions to get them started. So I need help...

I need written material to help along these absolute begginers. Got any suggestions ?
One of the girls played a few times and might take a hand at DMing... any newbie DM guides or helpful sites ? The english mustn't be too flowery or excessively complicated either. These are intelligent girls... but not proficient english speakers.

A really really begginer thing would be a great start... D&D for Retards or D&D for kids ?! Explaining those things we took for granted a decade ago...

New to the Game by Brian Cortijo looks like it might be of some use, since it will be a $6.00US product available as a PDF download.

Hopefully they move up the release date to a time sooner than December 2005.
