Newest Biggie Smalls report is up

Hmm. Is it possible that tracking challenges use both Nature and Perception, much like social challenges use multiple social skills to resolve situations?

Am I reading too much into this?

I don't think so. He certainly implies that both are relevant. Which could mean a synergy bonus (god, I hope not), or the ability to use either one, or that you need both skills in order to make a tracking check. Perhaps you actually track with a perception check, but you need Nature to be able to do it in wilderness environments? Or maybe you need to be "trained" in both skills to track people?

It certainly sounds like the Track feat is history.

I dunno. It's certainly food for thought. Nature certainly seems to have subsumed both Survival and Knowledge (Nature).

Or perhaps it is as simple as you add both Perception and Nature skills together when making a tracking feat.

So... 5: Perception, 3: Nature = 8

You roll a 10, you get 18 in Track.

Also the sling actually sounds like it can do some damage this time around.
Versus goblins, possibly minions? I think a flumph-on-a-stick would be damaging enough. Let me know when he drops a Hobgoblin.

Strange. This guy's writing style I just cannot get used to. And I really like the Confessions series by Mazzanoble, which apparently annoys the hell out of a lot of people. Different strokes, I guess.

I found myself wondering that as well. How can shelly cause so much distress when biggie seems to be doing pretty much the same thing? And even though I find her articles easier to read (go figure), I like both. :)
And either way, "farmers scything wheat -- righteous, enraged, revenge-bent farmers scything filthy, treacherous wheat" is gold! :D

They're both rather annoying, because they're pandering to stereotypes (even if they aren't overtly harmful ones). I suspect this guy gets less heat because 1- the weird writing is to a certain extent based on the character, rather than the author (I hope), and 2- crunch is more common in these playtest reports. Lots of people will put up with a lot of garbage for a peak at the rules.

Yeah, I like both too.

I like Shelly's obsessions with her characters and Biggie's over-the-top personality.

Both are refreshing.
