D&D 5E (2024) Next issue of Game Informer will have details on the two upcoming Forgotten Realms books

Interesting choice, I like it, but it's very gender focused and I don't know how much of a presence they have outside Rashemen? I suppose it could be Wychlaran and allied forces like Barbarian lodges and such.
I seem to recall Wychlaran use circle magic?

I think with most of these, when it comes to PCs, it will be an association, rather than full time membership.

I am very excited for the bestiary! I've been looking at Forgotten Realms stuff on wikis and such, and I feel that there's lots of material to work with! Not even just from 2e, as 3.5 introduced the shades/shadovar, and the kir-lanan!

I think the kir-lanan would be a fun inclusion: vaguely gargoyle-like monstrous beings who hate divine magic and the gods, and who only popped up in Toril after the Time of Troubles. It'd be cool to see how that idea would play out in 5e!

(Man, I'm really living up to my user tag! 😅)

Same here! If they do go the full 60 - 70 pages like other recent releases, there's plenty of room for all sorts of monsters to make a comeback!

My hope is that one of the DLCs is Cormyr getting the mini-setting treatment. It's irked me that Cormyr, being pretty much one of the main pillars of the setting since its inception, has been relegated to the distant background for this entire edition. I've felt the same way about the Dalelands as well, and now they are getting their due, so hopefully Cormyr gets its moment as well.

Yeah I figured too that Purple Dragons are a faction now.

So far for Factions I figure it's Harpers, Order of the Gauntlet (honestly perhaps one of weakest lore wise because it's never really had a real presence in the novels), Zhents, Emerald Enclave, Lords Alliance, Red Wizards, and Purple Dragons. I think there will probably be 10 factions, so that leaves 3 unknown factions and I think they will want one from the South East & South West, because the rest seem to have more Northern & Western origins, except for Emerald Emclave, which comes from Turmish.

I think Griffin Brotherhood is solid possibility, except like Zhents they are mercanies, though less dark, maybe too much other lap. I hope it's in. It's origins are Thayan, but it mostly works in the Old Empires Region now.

Maybe Fire Knives Guild? Or Nightmasks?

I feel like the Red Wizards are highly unlikely as they are straight up antagonists, and idk if Purple Dragons will be there either.

I think the Arcane Brotherhood is more likely if they are doing with a morally dubious wizard group.

Force Grey seems like an obvious option.

If they want factions based on the 5 mini-settings, then The Guild from Baldurs Gate and the Guild Arcane from Calimport are both likely options.

They straight up said Red Wizards was one of the factions during announcement. It could be the rebel group that splintered off when Szass Tam took over Thay and that might be allied with the Griffin Brotherhood.

Nah, the Red Wizards are already confirmed: likely the rebel, anti-Tam Red Wizards thwt WotChas set up since 4E who are more grey-zoned morally speaking.

And the Purple Dragon Knights were pretty heavily hinted at into he flavor text for the Fighter Subclass, emphasizing that not all members of the PFK have that Subclass or are Fighters...
