NFL - Week 2

Except wins from last year really have little impact on this year.
Right... They won the super bowl, picked up Cory Dillon, and had two first round draft picks. Do you really think that all should be forgotten?

I don't like that they are counting that winning streak that stretches over two seasons.

So you would discredit the Miami Hurricanes college football win streak? You would discredit the UCON Woman's basketball record?

Streaks are important, they show patterns of success and failure, and in this case they also show dominance... I wouldn't ignore them.

the dallas cowboys won today!!! thats great...
We lost Julius Jones, but given his lackluster (fumble!) and short appearance, that might not be a bad thing. ReShard Lee's looking like a young Emmitt.

WHAHOOOOO!!! Though it wasn't easy hopefully this gives them a good push in the right direction.

Eagles won, again. TO's touchdown score now equals after only two games what Westbrook had for the whole season.....
He was darn lucky they didn't review that play. It's always good to see the Vikes lose. I hate Philly, but I hate the Vikings even more.

Aaaaah. My Raiders look like a football team again! Finally!

And KC playing like a sick dog, this is really a great season so far. I'm really hoping KC goes down 0-3. There's not much better in this world than watching your arch rival suck wind.

They both have the best shot from the NFC (along with the Vikes maybe) but can you honestly favor them over the Pats? Sure the Pats didn't play well against the Cards but they always find a way to win. On paper, I just don't see anyone beating them, especially if their offense starts clicking. I'm hoping Branch can heal up in the bye week.
If I had to, I would take the Colts or the Eagles over the Pats. I thought the Pats looked more ready for the season to start (better coached), but the Colts looked like a vastly better team. The Pats squeaked out the win, but they could have easily lost by 3 TDs.

And the Eagles look really, really, good.

PS

The Eagles look REAL good this year. Seattle looks good, too. The Pats just have a terrific offense, and their D isn't bad either. They are going to be hard to beat this year (again).

But the greatest thing of NFL Week 2:

Da Bears defeat the Packers!!! :D

WHOO-HOOO!!!

Please excuse my enthusiasm, but with our best cornerback and safety going down to injuries, this is probably the only thing I get to celebrate all season. :(

The Pats squeaked out the win, but they could have easily lost by 3 TDs.

Please. They could have just as easily won by 3 TD's too. They let the Colts back into the game. In the NFL, the only thing that matters is the final score. The Pats know how to get there, the Colts merely whine and cry about how they were the better team and they deserved to win. If that's true, then why didn't they win?

As Belichick says, the team that deserves to win is the one with the most points at the end. End of story.

You're the only person I know who roots for a team based upon the kicker...

Andersen looks old... That 44 yarder he missed last night was rather sad. :(

Well what can I do. He's the only Dane ever to play in the NFL. And the truth is that I was a split Viking/Chiefs fan/follower last year, but I really disliked the way that Chief got rid of him. In a direct question to the CEO of Chiefs he stated: "No, Morten didn't get a fair chance to win the kicker position. A decision was made very early in the process to go with the younger choice.". Ok. So why didn't they tell him so he could get a fair chance of finding another team instead of the 3 days notice before season start that he got.

Anyways. Yeah, Andersen is begining to show his age. I just hope that he can beat Andersons record for most scoring player ever (although that seems unlikely since he came out of retirement for the second time). And maybe get that ring on his finger before he retires after this or the next season.

We must have been watching different games then.

In the NFL, the only thing that matters is the final score. The Pats know how to get there, the Colts merely whine and cry about how they were the better team and they deserved to win. If that's true, then why didn't they win?
Did the Colts whine and cry? I missed that. They didn't win because they aren't as well coached, and weren't as sharp in their execution.

As Belichick says, the team that deserves to win is the one with the most points at the end. End of story.
But, if I can look back at your other posts, if you think that means there is no possible way anyone can ever beat the Pats, you're dreaming. It wasn't that long ago that no one could imagine the Rams losing either.

Don't get me wrong, the Pats are good team. They are certainly in the top 5 in the league, and until someone proves otherwise, they're the team to beat. But to imply that no one else is in their class is just wrong.

Seems like they've got a pretty good shot, unfortunately (not that I dislike the Seahawks to any degree, but I'm a Packers fan).

Actually I'm a Packers fan too... The Wild Card last year was tough on me since they are my two favorite teams... I just think Seattle is a team that is using the lost tradition of making the various upward jumps in record and then breakthru... Nowadays the NFL is a last to first or vice versa league...

Seattle's big downside was the ability to win on the road... check... their other big sticking point was defense... sure looks better over 2 games... check... the offense can run with anyone...

Point taken earlier about the Pats... until someone beats them in the playoffs its theirs to lose... But I think someone will find a way... My Preseason prediction of Colts and Seahawks stands...

[until later in the year when I try to slide out from under it if need be :) ]
