NG vs. N: Neutral Good Victorious!

Horseshoe Nail is not happy about this. If only he were a few years older he could hit the energon with his claws and teeth. Alas, such as it is, he must try to live for what will seem like an eternity.

HN's plan: keep out of reach of the energon and breathe a cone of fear in round 283. He next position will be . . .

(this post momentarily interrupted as I2K performs some painstaking calculations)

. . . 0N15E115Z (R280). Have I told you that I agree that flying is a pain? Following that depends on what X-Y does. I think HN has the speed and maneuverability to stay away, but not too far away.

Circle around to end up at 0N0E115Z, heading north. Total defense (to aid against that annoying touch attack), so he takes only a single move. He spends 50ft in turning (5x90 degrees) and moves 50ft, half-speed.

X-Y takes its readied ray attack, hitting (rolled 12 ranged touch) for 6 points of fire damage. HN has 44 HP remaining. X-Y ignores the gas (rolled 04% on ignore chance). HN can breathe again in round 287.

Round 284: X-Y flies to 60N60E115Z and touches HN (rolled 24 touch) for 1 point of incorporeal touch and 7 points of fire damage. HN has 36 HP remaining.

Curse your 4-sider! I can't believe you rolled the same thing on d100 and d4!

HN will go on total defense and play keep-away again until he can breathe, at which point he'll breathe fear gas again. If the fear gas doesn't work (save or miss chance), he'll switch to fire. Do we really need to work out movements or can we just estimate and time compress how many attacks X-Y gets? X-Y will get an immediate AoO, but after that HN will drop down real low (and X-Y gets another attack most likely), but then as HN spirals up, X-Y will get no more attacks until H-N breathes.

Remove curse on my 4-sider!

Sounds good to me.

X-Y hits with AoO for 3 + 4 fire.

Round 285: X-Y hits for 2 + 9 fire. HN has 18 HP remaining.

Round 287: X-Y takes its readied move, moving next to HN. X-Y ignores the gas (rolled 37%). HN can breathe again in round 290.

Round 288: X-Y touches HN four times for a total of 18 + 28 fire. HN goes down in flames. X-Y is at 60N60E100Z, and has 23 HP remaining.

Next in round 288 for Neutral Good is a frostfell ghost (Frostburn). Looks like a good battle - incorporeal vs. incorporeal.
