Played for the third time tonight, but the first time for two players. People really seem to like the system a lot. We did a one shot, level five, so I let them use catch your breath during combat as an action, since they had no magic or potions. Seemed to work well.

I received my new books and had a chance to look at them; honestly, after a 1st read, I seriously love them.

It is very streamlined, and they fixed the ranger by splitting it into two classes: hunter and shepherd, both of which work significantly better than the grab bag of the 5e ranger.

plus, they did what I have suggested for years: equipment slots, not weight encumbrance, so it is easy to keep track.

Plus, they've addressed the size issues that make tiny/large pieces a problem.

Reducing to 4 attributes and only using pluses makes tactical sense, as it cuts down on the "not really sure which save it is supposed to be" issue that 5e introduced.

If I ever do a 3rd version of Hodgepocalypse, this will be the basis. Still, I will probably have to add things to fit my vision (because I want my three distinct things: monster PCs with related abilities, modern weapons, and vehicle rules).

We really don't get how the hunter is supposed to work. Like, it looks stronger when it doesn't have hunt of the thrill points?
Why would you think that? I only read the rules, so I don’t know how balanced the game turns out to be. But the Hunter with his abilities looks rather intriguing.
