Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

OOG: [sblock]Wasn't sure if Wil would go out at night fully geared. But decided to have this be one of his mistakes... hopefully, he survives to learn from it.[/sblock]

OOG2: [sblock]How dark is it? Is there a moon out?[/sblock]

Wilhelm pulls out his silver dagger, the only weapon he brought with him. The Ayrathan priest is otherwise unarmed and unarmored.

"Mayhap we should shutter our lantern" he whispers.

He looks for a place to hide, in case ambush is necessary.

Jaan nods, the thought had occured to him as well. He shutters or obscures the lantern as best possible. When his eyes have adjusted to the dark, he moves over to tree where he can remain out of sight, and settles in to watch the forest that Troi has disappeared into.

[sblock=ooc]I don't think going out without weapons is a mistake as such. I don't see Jaan living in his armour.[/sblock]

"The chances of this being a kidnapping-related hostile group is really quite negligible. Hopefully, it will just be a friendly merchant wagon or some such. Nonetheless, I shall prepare as well."

*She pulls out her crossbow and loads it, not convinced she will need to use it.*

OOC: It's dusk, slowly turning dark, and there is a quarter moon waxing, the second is not in sight.

Troi tries to move silently, but his efforts seem to be in vain as 6 armed horsemen quickly head towards the group. Off in the distance you can hear one say "See? Told you .... tonight."

OOC: I need everyone AC at the moment please. And no, you don't have time to do anything else at this point.

OOG: WWilhelm is accustomed to being in armour all the time, esp. with the Endurance feat. For him, warrior-born and tested, it was a mistake.

AC: 11

"Godspit" Jaan mutters.

- ooc -
If Jaan can lose the lantern and draw his second daggar AC 13 with TWD. AC 12 without. HP 28/28.

OOC: That's good, and no not yet Doghead.

As the 6 ride up, 3 spur their horses on faster, waiving longswords in the air, while the other 3 fire arrows, one missing Troi badly, one striking Lasair hard, and one striking Jaan hard as well.

[Sblock=OOC]Lasair takes 8 points of damage, Jaan takes 7.

Please put any numbers in an OOC sblock, making any clairifying comments. The 3 archers are 100' away, the three with the swords are 70' away. Actions everyone.[/sblock]

"This looks like a fight that we must win. Fortunately, victory will likely result in captives if we fight with discrection. I hope you can do it again, Troi, as I have not yet mastered the combat powers that I hope to learn soon."

[SBLOCK=ooc]Ouch! Lasair manifests a quick Vigour, gaining 10 temporary HP to replace her missing 8. She'll also drop prone--the sword dudes can't possibly attack her next round, and this will make her harder to hit for the bow fellows.[/SBLOCK]

AC 18 (15 if flatfooted). HP 32/32.

"Damnit!" Troi curses loudly as the arrow narrowly misses him. "Well, so much fer discretion!"

Should've known better... I'm always getting people into trouble...

We're lacking armor and weapons. This is not going to be a pleasant fight...

Troi draws his shortsword, then takes a step back, readying himself for the incoming horsemen, and trying to get a good look at the armor they're wearing.

No sense in worrying about it now. Do what you've got to do... and for once, don't screw it up!

[sblock=ooc]Draw shortsword (move action), 5-foot step back towards the trees, ready an attack with the whip (+9, 1d4+2) at the first horseman to come within 15 feet (standard).

Bront, what kind of cover can we get from the trees? Is there any terrain in the immediate vicinity that would hinder combatants on horseback, or that would hinder a charge?[/sblock]
