Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

Rasereit Vundinn, Dwarven Barbarian

OOC: Razh's horse is just a light horse, so it's not trained for combat. He'll have to make a DC20 Ride check (+8 modifier) or he can't use his standard action each round. Also, Razh will not risk hitting innocents, so unless it's as Rystil says, Razh will just be trying to catch up with the man and either hitting him with an axe or, preferably, grappling him to the ground. (I don't know the rules on grappling while mounted, but I imagine they're hideous.)

Wil loads and aims his crossbow at the mount of their quarry.

OOG: He'll only shoot if the scene is clear of bystanders, Razh and the like.

(OOC: Raz can't possibly catch up to his quarry for melee because they are the same speed. He shouldn't need to roll a check for this--you can always make a standard action while your horse is moving, horses just get distracted in combat if they aren't trained for battle and they are getting attacked by swords and arrows and monsters and such. I would say that this doesn't apply for this situation any more than it would if you were riding your horse and catching butterflies in a net)

The scene is not clear of bystanders, but it's not packed either, and people make way for horses galloping through naturaly. However, he does have a head start, so catching up with him this round is not going to happen. Also, his horse does seem to be pulling away, as it seems less encumbered and restricted. Lasair thinks she may be able to keep up thought.

OOC: Actions, I have Ogrin heading in the tavern, Will Loading and following, Lasair following, and Raz following and firing or hoping for melee?

OOC: Yup, you're the only one with gear and body weight under 150 (Actualy, you're the only one with body weight under 150) and he's on a light Warhorse.

(OOC: Curses. Well, we lose nearly a range increment each round, but on the other hand, we should still have time to kill the horse before it is out of bowshot. Just in case, though, Lasair will try to spur her mount each round. She only has a 30% chance and it causes 1 nonlethal damage to her mount when successful, but two successes gain her 80 feet, which should be enough to get off a power.)

OOC: Assuming he doesn't spur his on and outdistance you :p

The man races down the streets, urging his horse on and gaining distance.

Troi and Jaan follow, also urging their horses on, Jaan manages to, but Troi falls behind. Both fire shots, and miss badly.

Raz chases after the man, and fires a bowshot that goes wide.

Lasair follows after the man, urging her horse on, but the horse doesn't respond.

Wil follows along, loading his crossbow.

Ogrin enters the tavern..

[sblock=Ogrin]The Barron's Champion's interior looks much like the exterior. Once lavish, it is quite run down. There doesn't seem to be a lot of activity, other than 2 tables of patrons (4-6 at each table), another few at the bar, and a inkeeper who is busy preparing drinks. The sign on the stairs leading up reads: Champion's Room with another sign on a hook that reads: Occupied.[/sblock]

(OOC: Oh that's fine--the main reason I mentioned spurring is to make sure the enemy tried it, as that increases our chances to kill the horse :p 40 feet is an insignificant loss compared to the hit point loss of his horse, which doubles every time he is successful in a row :]

We don't have anything better than this, unless you'd like to reveal that Troi, who should have had an Animal Companion by now, picked the horse to be his and shared Longstrider with it  )

OOC: Actualy, scent replaces the companion, and right now he's outdistancing you pretty well, just let me know your next actions.
