i agree.

tends to match my general preferences as well.

i have found that in actual play "can i open this door" (door metaphor for do something new) is bigger than another +1 at a door you already can open. The DPR differences between 14 str and +3 proficiency vs 16 STR and +3 prof or +4 str and +3 prof (with lower secondary stats) are to me much less impactful than it seems in white room excel analysis.

meanwhile there are a lot of feats that open very useful doors for many character concepts.

I just like to be equally good at swing longswords and shooting longbows.

And equally good and perception and investigation checks.

If I have too I'll dump charisma though. I'm almost always playing a wildman, so winning friends and influencing people is never high on my priority list.
