D&D (2024) How do we feel about 2024 Feats? (Origin vs Others)

No. Because sometimes you need to shoot with a bow and already maxed dex at level 6 with a fighter.
so you took some feat at 4th level with +1 dex(probably Dual wielder), then +2 dex at 6th and now archery at 8th?

why would you waste not one, but 2 feat slots for maybe sometimes getting +2 attack on your off attack?
and you have 20 dex, you will be fine with a longbow.

why not take 2 feats with +1 dex at 6th and 8th and get something useful?

I would rather take skill expert twice(if allowed) than take off style fighting style.
that way I can help with exploration/social.

I’m happy with the origin feats. I just think there should be more of them.

More things is nice.

Looks to me they chose the number based on the number of backgrounds they decided to include.

I agree we could have used another couple backgrounds. There is even room for 3 or so to fill out the ability combinations (not that that really matters but I do like symmetry).

Every origin feat except crafter, healer, musician, savage attacker, and tavern brawler get 2 backgrounds (3 for magic initiate to account for 3 options).

I think they made the right choice as those are the weaker or more specialised feats.

Musician is great but I want it tied to only 2 background and I also don't want to have 2 I'm a party.

I also want more than 1 background choice to get a specific feat for the ones that are more broad.

Yes. That’s the progression I had in mind.

It’s only 1 feat for that.

Go for it. Doesn’t mean archery is a bad choice though.

I think it's telling that there's a Warlock invocation to get an Origin feat. That puts the two at roughly equal value, while both are "worth" less than a General feat. Which feels about right to me.

Low level human with 3 origin feats. Hmmnn. We have been eyeing up magic initiate and tough.

Having a 17 as your highest score vs a 16 is a lot more desirable.

I was wondering this myself. I really like the concept of Savage Attacker, but everyone says it's trash (I don't think it's that bad and my daughter has used it effectively in our old campaign). How would people change it to make it a more respectable pick?
I think it’s fine now. Its surprisingly good levels 1-4 when using great sword or great axe. Its still respectable levels 5-10.

It’s just not a must take. Making it a +2 damage to all attacks would make it a must take. Thus, I think it’s in about as good of a spot as it can be.
