No CHAINMAIL update in the near future

Well, that was fun

This thread on the CHAINMAIL support forum indicates that there isn't going to be an update to the current Beta 3 release any time soon.

Since we all seem pretty agreed that CHAINMAIL isn't currently in a viable useable state, it looks like we'll be sticking with Path of Ascension.

However, I'm always willing to consider other options. If you know of (or happen to find) another decent persistent module that you like the look of, let me know and I'll look into it. A good place to look for such things is Neverwinter Vault.

Problem is, there are so few on a scale suitable to use as PW. The only one that jumps to mind is Cormyrean Nights. But it is not quite large enough. Certainly not on the scale of PoA or Seviss/Chainmail.

Experiment some, but let us know when it's coming. Better yet, give us some way of knowing if our chars are ILP legal. :-/

Cormyrean Nights is the one I think would work best, barring the sudden emergence of a completely up-to- date DL series of mods.

All we need is a base mod.. be it PoA or another and we can work from that changing, updating, altering that as we go.

My own preferences would be for a large mod with plenty of room for exploration. Preferably a mod that isnt designed for power gaming and is more condusive to an Item Level Restriction On environment.

something that was produced "post" release of the expansions and that is CEP and PRC firendly would also be something I'd hugely prefer.

But I can and am willing to work with PoA if thats is the best we can find and provide some expansion areas, rearrange things etc..which is pretty much what Ive bene playing with in my spare time anyway. I have a friend working on some custom scripts too to achieve various things..but when any of it would be ready and usable is impossible to say for the moment and half of what I wanted to do to the mod may well not be viable.

I dont know if its any good yet (still downloading), but the World of Lodor module designed for Persistent Worlds sounds okay, lots fo areas designed for all levels of play, CEP friendly and has a bunch of subraces, some races accessible only via completing quests, dynamic questing system, deity system, banking..etc.etc...

CHAINMAIL is worth playing. I havent been playing POA because im waiting for something else. I have tried gemstone... didnt know it was available for download. Havent played it much though.

I hope something besides POA gets chosen, and soon. Despite any problems with CHAINMAIL... its better than POA without even trying. My vote is go with CHAINAMIL or something new. I hope to play on the ENworld server again soon. But im personaly not interested in POA at all.

Peace

I've become quite fond of my Chainmail char now that she's leveled up a few times at PoA. So, the other part of my remark still begs to be answered...

How can we tell what the ILR of particular items may be? I've gone strictly Merchant's Emporium this time, but I still wonder. Ditto with my other PoA char. Dumped every custom item, but I'm worried he still might not be playable on another mod.

And speak of the devil... Right after I read your post I trotted over to another site, where this had just been posted...

World of Lodor

Yak. I missed that part. One of the reasons I'm loathe to return to Battledale is that it felt like work. My char easily spent half his time hunting deer, slow roasting piukka berries, and shopping for bedrolls.

Take a look at Cormyrean Nights. Add some wilderness areas to it, and it could work.
