No Sallah in Indiana Jones IV?

No, the thing that haas me concerned is that kid from Even Stevens being cast in the movie. That kid, Shia Labouf (Holes, I, Robot, and the upcoming Transformers movie) is as annoying as hell.

Seconded. I don't understand what the big deal seems to be about this guy. He was irritating and constantly mugging and hamming it up on Even Stevens, and he was the same way during his (completely useless) role in I, Robot. Those are the only two performances I've ever seen from him, admittedly, but based on them I have not seen anything remotely resembling any acting talent whatsoever.

Temple of Doom *is* a good movie. It has mine cart rollercoaster, Obi-Wan Lounge, and a nod to Harrison Ford's "scare the stormtroopers" scene in ANH.

Not to mention a wonderful visual reference for the quote. . .

"The way to a man's heart is through his ribcage."

Perhaps he was unwilling to undergo another round of surgeries to replace the lengths of leg he had removed so that he could play Gimli.

I've never cared for Even Stevens, but I thought he was very good in Holes. In fact, Holes is one of my all-time favorite movies.

YMMV, but I thought he did an excellent job in The Greatest Game Ever Played. Admittedly, the british (both golfers, the journalist, the aristocrat) really made the movie, but if you haven't seen it, give it a shot.

Of course, if Indy never goes near the middle east during the course of the story, it really wouldn't make any sense to have Salah along anyway. His main function (aside from slight comedic value) was to serve as a resource for Indy with his contacts and knowledge of the region. Outside of that, he'd be a fish out of water and not terribly relevant to the plot I shouldn't think.
