Nobody talking about PHBII or other supplements?

Cats,

I may be biased towards Scarred Lands.
You? Biased towards Scarred Lands?! Naw, I would've never guessed that from your posts. Next you'll be telling me that Orcus is your favorite demon prince...

I don't think you are alone on this one. I've heard quite a few grating comments. More than usual, that is ;).
Don't listen to them. Aside from the entire Demon Lord issue (and, assuming you have the ability to read and comprehend what you've just read, it's not that big of a deal), the book is chock full of good flavor. The demon lord write ups are especially good if only because they have quite a bit of interesting background info contained therein.

I know someone will bring up the 'demon lord power issue,' but meh, it seems pretty clear that these guys should be tweaked on a campaign by campaign basis.

PHBII is a really good, solid, utilitarian book.

??? There have been a large number of threads about the PHBII. Almost all have been positive.
Are you confused about something? That was my point.

PHB2 is a good book, and thusly the reason there aren't as many threads about it (compared to, say, the many threads about Complete Divine) is that there's nothing for people to post complaints about it. Like, how many Draconomicon threads have you seen? It's generally agreed to be one of WotC's top 5 books.

I agree that PHB II is solid, and I am of the group that really liked FC1. The flavor was very good and I know very little about the Planescape tradition of things, so it was nice to get a solid overview of things. The CR thing doesn't bother me at all. I can fix that myself.

I liked DMG II a lot too (but that wasn't recent.) I might freak out though if these rumors of more Complete xxx books come out. sheesh. how much more crunch do we need?

I honestly don't remember that many Complete Divine threads. Sure there were complaints, but they were limited to a handful of threads (like the PHB II has had the praise limited to a handful of threads).

Well, I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has this impression, but I think that the general number of posts in this forum went down quite a bit. It's also not a big deal to find yesterday's thread, even if there wasn't a single new answer. It just got a bit quieter here.

It does seem slow, at least now. It used to even have steady traffic late night (here on the U.S. East Coast), but it's just dribbles and drabs.

I can see all sorts of speculation as to why, but summer vacation would be where I place much of the blame.

Dude, I could've sworn I saw a Complete Divine thread less than a month ago in Rules, complaining about how overpowered some PrC was.

When it came out, there were complaints about a number of the PrCs, a bunch of the spells, and don't get me started on the feats. Divine Metamagic and Practiced Spellcaster are definitely big feats.

Though, it may be quieter in here in general. I have noticed that... in such a large forum, though, it's still quite a bit of traffic.

Maybe, I should look into Power of Faerun then. At least if it's about more than just high level play, which I don't really need. This "Champions of Ruin" and "Champions of Valor" thing evokes the bad taste of BoVD/BoED in me, that's why I skip those.

While there is "exalted" stuff in it, Champions of Valor has a good bit of info on various non-Harper goodly aligned agencies, along with several knighthoods. Couple that with new regional stuff, pretty decent amount of feats, and new class substitions, Champions of Valor beats down both Champions of Ruin AND BoED for good useage.

Regarding Power, while it's geared towards play that is "high" power, it's more about how to get ahead in various aspects of the character's life, looking at religions, merchants, nobility, and even the Border Kingdoms. What it lacks in church, it more than makes up in fluff.

I should probably not comment on books as FC1, because I don't have any fascination for demons and devils. I use them only in pre-fabricated adventures..

Well I might use them in pre-made adventures, but Demons rock and this book does a fair/good/more than decent job of presenting it.

Pants,

You have a point in that little rant of yours? ;)

What is it with the D&D supplement books? Do they suck that bad that nobody talks about them? Why the silence?

I can only assume you haven't been paying attention. There has been plenty of chatter about the PH2.

Fiendish Codex has gotten pages and pages of posts. Lots. More than lots.

There's also been plenty of chatter about Red Hand of Doom and Complete Psionic.

It's just that... well... we talk about a book for a while. We say things like "I like it" or "It sucks", and then we go back to talking about other things, and using the book in our games (or not, as the case may be).

Cheers!

I'd like to point out that there's a Vow of Poverty thread on the first page of General right now. How's that for staying power? In comparison, I think PHB2 has kind of petered out.

EDIT: I hadn't looked at the VoP thread until now--it kind of doesn't count since it doesn't discuss the feat.
